Best VPN for Torrenting and P2P File Sharing

Torrenting or P2P (peer to peer) file-sharing stands as the most common way of sharing files on the internet. By using BitTorrent Protocol, a pool of users can download a file residing on seeder’s system in an instant. However, all good things come at a price. Torrent users are constantly under threat from copyright trolls, DMCA, and ISPs. They face hefty fines, copyright infringement notices, and even lawsuits for downloading media through torrents. That said, popular torrent giants including Torrentz, Kickass and TorrentHound are shot down by DMCA recently.

To get around this problem, the best VPN for torrenting works as the perfect watch guard for your privacy. It protects you from the prying eyes of copyright trolls and DMCAs at all times. With a VPN, you can safely and anonymously download torrents of HBO Game of Thrones, Netflix’s House of Cards, Mr. Robot, Arrow and many others, without worrying about copyrights infringement notices.

This is How You Are Caught While Torrenting

Copyright holders are always on the lookout to penalize anyone who infringes copyrights. And, torrent users are their primary targets. So how do they catch you while you use torrents?

There are two ways through which you are caught: (1) Your true location is reveal through your IP address, and (2) your internet traffic is monitored.

When you add a torrent file to your torrent client, your IP address, country, and the torrent client you use, become visible to everyone. By monitoring all the IP’s that are downloading and uploading the same torrent, copyright trolls are able to trace your actual location.

Factors to Look for When Choosing Best VPN for Torrenting

There are certain features that you should look for when selecting the best VPN for torrenting. These features are usually available as add-ons and can boost your torrenting experience:

Speed

Speed plays a prime role while downloading torrents of your favorite shows or movies from the internet. A high-speed network connection will do no good if VPN provider throttles the speed. We suggest netizens to choose a VPN that uses applies no speed caps. In addition, the best torrent services mentioned above offer unlimited speed for blazing fast speed torrent download at any time.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth throttling can be a nightmare for torrenters. Have you ever experienced a sudden drop in download speed, after downloading files up to a certain data limit? Generally, VPN providers throttle bandwidth to avoid overloaded servers. This results in a degraded downloading and streaming  experience. Having that said, it’s a wise decision to ask a VPN provider before subscription, if it uses bandwidth  throttling.

Security Protocol

Secure tunneling protocols are the mandatory requirement for safe and anonymous torrenting. The L2TP/IPSec tunneling protocol with 256-bit encryption ensures top-notch protection while you seed or leech torrents from different sites. On another hand, PPTP protocol only offers 128-bit standard encryption that is not preferred for torrenting. The above mentioned VPN services offer L2TP/IPSec protocol at an affordable rate so you get the best out of torrents safely and securely.

Available Payment Options

It isn’t a smart decision to choose a provider that doesn’t offers anonymous payment options. Interestingly, many VPN providers require your credit card information, which holds sensitive information including your location details. To get away with it, only the best VPN for torrenting will offer anonymous payment modes like Bitcoin and PayPal, while ensuring unmatchable anonymity and safety to torrenters.

Wide Spread Servers Locations

A VPN with broad range of servers dotted across various regions offer better overall torrenting experience. As a torrent site that may be available in one country may be restricted in other. Also, torrenters often face server congestion issue that results in sluggish downloading. To get rid of such issues, you can connect to a server that is near your region. It will ensure seamless torrent downloads with zero ping spikes or speed issues.

Data Logging Policy

Activity logging policy is one of the hidden terms of a VPN provider. Generally, VPN providers retain online activities of their subscribers and then hand over the log to law-enforcement agencies upon request. But, only the best VPN for torrenting comes up to the mark by not storing any of your browsing activities. The VPN services mentioned above offer absolutely zero data & activity logging policy while ensuring maximum security and privacy to subscribers.

Internet Kill Switch

An internet kill switch is a powerful feature offered by VPN provider apps. It ensures that a user’s IP address is never disclosed on the internet, in case the VPN connection drops (disconnects). To ensure identity protection, it immediately kills the internet connection when the VPN is accidentally disconnected, allowing no traffic to come through or go out.

Moreover, if the internet kill switch is disabled, your device automatically connects to the internet relaying your original IP address & location. This makes you vulnerable to all kinds of cyber threats, ISP deep packet inspection and State surveillance. VPN services with the Internet kill switch feature is highly recommended for torrent users.

NAT Firewall

Network Address Translation (NAT) modifies IP information of your device into packet headers so that they can be routed to the destination (usually the internet). “In simplest terms, a NAT Firewall assigns all your devices a unique address (IP Address) so when these devices connect to the internet sing the router it identifies all authorized devices but stops unauthorized devices from connecting to your network”.

The firewall discards unrecognized IP packets protecting you from malicious IP packets to enter into your system through public IP address. However, when you connect to a VPN, the encrypted VPN tunnel between your computer and the VPN server passes through NAT firewall. This makes NAT firewall unable to read the data as it is encrypted. The best VPN for torrenting listed here offer NAT firewall between the VPN server and the Internet, filtering all the traffic through NAT firewall.

Port Forwarding

A NAT Firewall may offer robust benefits but users have reported about frequent issues while using NAT for torrents and P2P file sharing. In addition, NAT firewall can significantly reduce your download speed. However, this issue can be resolved by Port Forwarding, which will allow torrent traffic to pass through a specific port in NAT Firewall. The best VPN services mentioned in this guide offer port forwarding, that will allow you to download torrents faster from anywhere in the world.

Best VPN for Torrenting Answers the Concerns of Torrent Users

There are different concerns faced by BitTorrent and uTorrent users. Copyright infringement concerns, however, are the most significant threats faced by torrent lovers. These issues often accompany severe consequences and may lead to lawsuits and legal settlements to be paid by the culpable.

Along with that, BitTorrent users are often concerned about their privacy and identity revelation. Torrent culture has many enemies especially those who want to confine content’s access and are concerned about liberation in content distribution, sharing, and download. These entities (individuals or companies) operate along with different ISPs to prohibit torrenting.

Use IP Leak Tests To See If You Are Safe While Torrenting

IP leak has been haunting torrent users through exposing their true identity to copyright owners, ISPs and law-enforcement agencies. A VPN may protect user’s digital footprint and actual identity, but when using torrent, a user needs to make sure that he is protected at all times. To check that a VPN is working correctly and torrent client is not exposing one’s confidential information, you should run an IP-address check for torrent IP and general leaks.

If any of torrent traffic is not passed through the secure encrypted tunnel, a user may end up getting in trouble with copyright trolls and massive fines. To ensure a reliable online protection, we suggest users conduct IP leak test. Once the test is completed, a user will receive a report showing IP address which is being used by a torrent client to connect to different peers. This IP address should be different than the actual IP address of a user.

Another way to determine one’s online safety is to visit ipleak.net. If you’re using a VPN and able to see your actual IP address or even ISP name on IP leak page then you’re suffering from an IP leak which may end in copyright trolls. In addition to this, you can also visit test-ipv6.com for further leak testing. It’s better to take precaution than to pay fines.

Torrent VPN, Torrenting

In addition to using a VPN, you can also use an antivirus to secure yourself while using torrents. An antivirus will help in defending against various dangers that are hidden inside the contents of a torrent file. Similarly, there are other tips and tricks that you can use to use torrents safely: download torrents with numerous seeds, check the comments before downloading any torrent, don’t access any torrent that might look suspicious, and stay away from files with extension ‘.exe’ and ‘.bat’.

Major Concerns and Threats Faced by Torrent Users

Torrenting has been subjected to copyright infringement issues for long. There have been diverse concerns faced by torrent lovers and those who prefer P2P file sharing. Concerned authorities consider torrenting as an illegal activity which deteriorates the value of content. For this, they had adopted diverse approaches to prohibit torrent culture.

Copyrights Infringement Notice

If you’re a true torrent fanatic then you may have ever come up with copyrights infringement notice. Legal punishment for copyright infringement varies from region to region. In some countries, pirating legal content is a severe crime and can lead you into serving time in prison. While other countries, a warning letter is issued by ISP to cease you from torrenting.

In any case, you can safely use a VPN, spoof your IP address with a different one and get protected against ISP, copyright owners, DMCA, and legal notices.

Beware of Malicious Torrents

Cyber-goons may also use torrents to infiltrate your security. P2P file sharing isn’t always clean and risk free. Cyber criminals use different torrent platforms for malicious files distribution to infiltrate your security. Those who are aware of these risks probably know how to cope with them. The ones that are not, their privacy could be victimized in the name of online liberation.

In 2005, HBO played smart and started promoting torrents of its new shows. These torrents weren’t effective for the use as they contained malicious files. Later, HBO along with different Internet Service Providers (ISP) began to threat BitTorrent users where ISPs warned users of permanent disbandment of their Internet accounts if they didn’t cease P2P file sharing.

Hefty Fines & Lawsuits

That’s not all. There were many other non-supporters of torrent culture and P2P file sharing that filed lawsuits against those held culpable for availing online freedom. In the year 2010, around 16000 lawsuits were filed against BitTorrent users. Most of these users were held liable for downloading copyright content, especially newly released movies.

Thus, as per the allegations put forward, the Internet Service Providers were instructed to reveal the identities of concerned BitTorrent users for actions to be taken accordingly. Most of the lawsuits ended up with a settlement of around USD $3000 to be paid by the culpable. There’s more. In 2011, around 5000 accounts were dismissed by different ISPs as per the allegations considering concerned.

Speculative Invoicing Outside the UK & India

Many countries have imposed aggressive regulations against piracy and copyrights infringement. In India, torrents are officially banned and illegal to download, while the UK government has imposed strict laws against piracy and torrenting.

However, copyright owners in other countries nowadays use speculative invoice, that threatens an accuser to accept a cash settlement instead of facing trials. To get around with such threats and issues, a best torrent VPN keeps you safe, secure and anonymous to copyright trolls at all times.

Taking Down & Removal of Popular Torrent Websites

Copyright infringement has become a serious issue over the past few years. One of the strongest actions to control free-file sharing on the internet was taken in 2011, when Google removed auto-fill options for specific terms leading to file sharing websites like Rapidshare, Megaupload and HotFile.

By doing so, search engines celebrated along music companies, artists, game developers and movie creators by having a safety feel for their intellectual properties.

However, file-sharing websites and torrent software (BitTorrentuTorrent etc.) were not the only losers. The real loss occurred to internet users heavily depending on distributed file sharing from peer-to-peer networks.

Alternates emerged, with torrent users winking at censor filters having their proxies changed. This worked for some people, but most users compromised with a snail-paced downloading speed because of frequent proxy interruptions and heaving heavy traffic on proxy sites.

VPN Saves You from Torrential Hack-Attacks

Torrent VPN does more than just mask your IP to break internet restrictions: it also saves you from hacking attacks that are more common on P2P sharing sites. Since your system acts as a node of P2P network, a data snooper might find it easy to break into your computer system and access your private data and files.

Data within VPN is encrypted, so a hacker won’t be able to locate the right computer to get his booty from. Moreover, a VPN server acts as an intermediary between you and the rest of the internet. As VPN servers have got powerful Antivirus, Spyware, Malware, and Ransomware protection that will prohibit a malicious attack on your device.

FAQs about Best VPN for Torrenting

A large number of users have inquired on various forums about issues, concerns, and implications of a torrent VPN. To offer the most suitable response to your queries, we have created a comprehensive section for frequently asked questions (FAQs):

Torrenting is the process through which a file is transferred between different users on a P2P network. The process works on BitTorrent protocol, which allows multiple users to download the same file amongst each other at once.

This protocol breaks down large portions of files into small pieces; so the file is downloaded and uploaded by different users on the same P2P network. If you want to learn more about how torrents work then check our detailed guide: What is Torrenting & How it Works. The overall process is efficient than transferring the same file from a single source.

Here’s how you can start torrenting:

  • Download a torrent client (such as uTorrent)
  • Once the client is downloaded, search for the desired torrent file and download it
  • You can also use the magnet links to add the torrent to your torrent client
  • Next, you can tweak different setting in your torrent client and manage different torrent files

As the name indicates “Peer to Peer” or “Person to Person”, P2P VPN services generally offer features that are required for safe torrenting. It creates encrypted tunnels between your device and the internet. Some of the features offered by P2P VPN include top-grade anonymity, robust tunneling protocols, P2P supported servers, zero logging policy and much more. You can refer to our exclusive guide on leading-edge P2P VPN services for an in-depth look at each provider.

With the demise of Torrentz, torrent enthusiasts find a big hole to fill in their torrent resources. Some of the alternatives for Torrentz include:

  • The Pirate Bay
  • isoHunt
  • RARBG
  • ExtraTorrent

You can find more alternatives and mirror websites for Torrentz in our detailed guide here:  15 Best Torrentz Alternatives.

A large number of marvel and DC fans find torrent as a perfect destination to download top-rated comics. Some the websites you can use to download comic books through torrents include; TorrentDownloads, YourBittorrent, and 1337x.  You can refer to our exclusive catalog for dedicated torrent sites that offer thousands of comics.

When it comes to picking a trustworthy torrent VPN service, almost every provider sings its own praises for torrent and P2P support. However, in many cases, VPN users have received copyright infringement notices even by using a VPN. The copyright notices can be a result of DNS leaks, IP leaks, or a VPN might be logging user’s activities. This is why we recommend only the VPN providers that are mentioned in the list above.

After the US, UK, Australia & Germany, the Indian Government has declared torrenting as a severe crime that can result in imprisonment for up to 3 years. In addition, a fine of INR 300,000 is to be imposed on any person found using or sharing torrent or P2P file. The stern copyright infringement laws in India have left thousands of Indians unable to download torrents of popular shows and movies like they did before.

With that said, many users have optioned for a VPN as an invisibility cloak to download torrents anonymously. But not to forget that, torrenting in India is not only banned but it comes with legal penalties. So, we recommend Indian users not to compromise their online privacy, use a torrent VPN that comes with an internet kill switch and achieve a top-grade protection against DNS leaks and copyright trolls.

You need a tool like a VPN,  which allows you to conceal and spoof your IP address for downloading torrents. You might be tempted to go for other tools (which might be free) such as a SmartDNS or a proxy service. However, these tools won’t help to hide your IP address. A SmartDNS does not cloak your IP address, while proxy might route you through a different location, the contents of your internet traffic can still be traced back to you. So the best way to become anonymous over the internet is by using a VPN.

Trackers are a fundamental component of torrenting. It is through trackers that you are able to transfer file between peers while using BitTorrent protocol. That said there are two types of trackers: private and public. So what’s the difference between the two?

Public trackers are open to everyone and are also known as open trackers. You can easily add these trackers to your torrent client. Some popular public trackers include Public BitTorrent and OpenBitTorrent. However, the downside of these trackers is that copyright trolls can use them to monitor users downloading torrents, making unsecure.

Private trackers can only be used by specified users and are restricted to public use. To use private trackers, you would need to register to a particular website. And, registrations are only handed out through invitations sent by active members of the website. Private trackers are known to be more secure as not everyone has access to such trackers and this also makes them faster, when compared to public trackers.

Torrent VPN vs. Seedbox

In the midst of all the threats surrounding the use of torrents, many torrent users are often caught between the choice of using a Seedbox or a VPN. Both these tools provide anonymous torrenting, but each has its own positives and negatives.

Which is better Torrent VPN or Seedbox?

Seedbox are remote servers located in data centers and allow you to download or upload files. They offer high speed connections, enabling fast transfer of files, and are particularly popular among torrent fans. The best part about seedbox is that you don’t actually download torrents on your system. Instead, the file is downloaded on the seedbox server and then you transfer the downloaded file via SFTP or FTP.

However, a seedbox is not short of its faults. If the server is seized or blocked by the authorities, all your data (including torrents) will be lost. Unlike a VPN, seedbox are considerably expensive and are dependent upon the bandwidth. Here are complete comparisons of torrent VPN vs. seedbox:

SeedboxTorrent VPN
Dedicated remote serverMultiple server choices
Downloads the file on its own serverDownloads the file on your device
Offers fast internet speedsCan slowdown your internet speeds
Only encrypts file transfer (HTTPS)Encrypts your entire device
Keeps you out of P2P loop, making you anonymousCloaks your IP address, making you anonymous
Can be expensiveHas different pricing plans
Torrent files can be lost if server is seizedTorrent files are saved to your system

Torrents vs. Proxy

VPN and proxy both serve the same purpose for users over the internet, allowing bypassing geo-restrictions and identity protection. Both tools conceal user identity and bypass geo-restrictions on various geo-blocked websites (including BBC iPlayer, Channel 9, NBC, CBS and other on-demand entertainment services) allowing netizens a free pathway to the internet.

But the question majority of torrent downloaders ask is “Which one is better, Proxy or VPN?

While the best torrent VPN providers deliver excellent perks to users, proxy servers’ have their distinct pros & cons. We have summarized the main advantages & disadvantages of using both tools so that readers can make their choice:

VPN for Torrenting

A Virtual Private Network ‘anonymizes’ & encrypts’ internet connections by creating a ciphered tunnel between the user and VPN server. Law-enforcement agencies, ISPs, hackers and cyber criminals can only see that the user is connected to a remote VPN server while all online activities, IP address, and communication is hidden and protected. This strategic mix of tunneling protocols along with data encryption algorithms provides military grade data security for torrent VPN transfers.

PPTP tunneling protocol coupled with 256-bit encryption provides high speed and secure downloading of torrents. Moreover, L2TP/IPSec with 256-bit encryption keys delivers robust protection to your data online, but with considerably slower speeds. For your convenience we have listed pros and cons of using a VPN for torrenting:

Pros

  • Robust anonymity & data security
  • A wide range of global servers (including premium P2P & Torrent optimized servers)
  • Offers in-house developed desktop & mobile software
  • Offers multiple tunneling protocols including PPTP, OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec and IKEV2
  • Offer Military Grade 128-bit to 256-bit Data Encryption

Cons

  • Slightly Expensive than a proxy server
  • Can slow down during peak hours
  • Logs basic user data for service delivery & compliance with local laws

Proxy for Torrenting

A Proxy Server works as an intermediary between your computer and the internet. Any traffic passed through the proxy server will show its own IP address, not user devices. Unlike a VPN, proxy servers don’t encrypt data using tunneling protocols instead it only masks user IP address making users’ anonymous. This makes proxy servers faster than VPN but compromises data security.

Proxy servers communicate using two primitive protocols “HTTPS” or “SOCKS.” The HTTP protocol only interprets the internet traffic that starts with Http:// or https://. It is faster than Socks and is preferred for web surfing.

The Socks protocol on other hand doesn’t interpret internet traffic; instead, it handles different kind of traffic including POP3, SMTP, IRC and FTP (majorly used for emails, chat, other communications, and file transfers). SOCKS protocol is slower than HTTPS but preferable for email, chat, and uploading files.

Following are the pros and cons of using a proxy service over the best VPN for torrenting:

Pros

  • Costs slightly less than VPN
  • Faster than a VPN (usually for streaming and TV catch services)
  • Supports torrent (a debated factor, but provides partial anonymity)

Cons

  • Limited number of servers to connect through
  • No encryption what so ever compared to VPN

The Rise of Torrent Culture and P2P File Sharing

Torrenting and P2P file sharing is a trend we all benefit from. Yet, there are a few who consider it as an act of copyright infringement – perhaps those who can’t stand the concept of free Internet after all. Free Internet and online freedom is our right and no one can take it away from us. Though, millions of BitTorrent or uTorrent users out there are threatened by diverse concerns lurking the history of torrent culture.

P2P file sharing liberates our access to diverse variety of content. We live in the era where we are introduced to a new censorship policy each day – each day our access to the content we seek is confined by the geo-restrictions. P2P file sharing and torrent culture is what promotes our online freedom and authorizes our digital empowerment.

What others call copyright infringement, I call it revenue optimization. No matter what type, category or genre of content is promoted via P2P file sharing, the one who shares it definitely buys it especially when its newly released and perhaps more expensive. So, I think of it as a win-win rather than the violation of copyrights.

Wrapping UP

Although there are a number of Torrent VPN providers, only the one that gives the best speed, server coverage and security will be of help to you. Based on these criteria (and prices, customer support of course), we have presented a list of VPN services which are working well for torrenting.
By using one of best VPN for torrenting, you will not only achieve one-click access to unlimited torrents, but you will achieve reliable anonymity and 100% protection against hackers, DMCA, copyright infringement notices and unauthorized ISP surveillance

How does AirVPN compare to PureVPN…..? please reply. And, Thankyou for reading.

    • admin says:

      Hi Troy,

Thanks for your comment. As far as comparing AirVPN with PureVPN goes, there’s a lot of difference between the two. PureVPN has servers in over 140 countries whereas AirVPN has only a handful of servers. If we compare the prices, then PureVPN also has an edge over AirVPN. On the contrary, AirVPN and PureVPN offer similar security measures: OpenVPN protocol and AES 256 bit encryption.

However, both VPN providers support P2P file sharing. We tested PureVPN and found its performance to be much better than AirVPN. So, if you’re looking for a VPN to use with torrents, then give PureVPN a try.

  2. Andressa says:

Canada is widely acclaimed for a massive number of internet users than any other country. Being a mainstream region for tech geeks, Canadians love to stream videos online. However, popular Canadian channels are geo-restricted outside Canada, meaning that users can’t access Bravo, CBC, Sportsnet and Canal De from outside Canada. To get away with restrictions, Canada VPN provides instant access to all Canadian channels from anywhere in the world. However, I haven’t tried BTGuard yet but I would suggest users to get a decent Canada VPN like Express VPN and Ivacy for top-notch privacy, anonymity and accessibility.

  3. Mathew says:

I am located in New Jersey and torrenting is among my favorite activities. I usually search for torrents of latest movies and Netflix TV shows. And for secure torrenting I selected NordVPN.
But last week when I received copyright infringement notice from my ISP. I was surprised and annoyed at the same time, as VPN didn’t work for me and DNS leak occured. Right now I want to know that does NordVPN provide Internet Kill Switch? and what’re some decent VPN services that offer responsive Internet Kill Switch?

    • admin says:

      Dear Mathew thanks for commenting,
Usually ISPs send copyright infringement notices when a user is found downloading or accessing licensed material from internet.
When it comes to safe and anonymous torrenting, PureVPN, NordVPN and BufferedVPN comes at top. These VPN services offer strong tunelling protocols to ensure 101% protection against copyright trolls, ISP surveillance and infringement notices. You can freely use any of the specified torrent VPN for safe and secure torrenting.

  4. Aditya says:

Torrenting is one of the lovable activities I prefer during weekends. But due to strict copyright laws in Connecticut, I was unable to visit torrent sites. Not to forget, ISPs over here send notices even when a flagged site is visited. Considering the situation, this article helped me a lot into bypassing the imposed geo-restrictions and downloading torrents anonymously from within Connecticut.

I like to torrent my favorite TV shows most of the times. However, I do not choose torrents for downloading softwares, due to the risk of getting infected by malwares. So I was searching for a decent torrent VPN and came up with Hide.me. But to be honest, Hide.me didn’t come up to my expectations and eventually I had to request for a refund.
After reading reviews and conducting in-depth research, I came up with PIA. The service satisfied me well with a robust protection and anonymity for secure torrenting. Cheers to PIA !

I use nordvpn and the 28mbps in the article is not accurate…

Downloading a torrent currently with 40mbps.

      Hi Jake,

Thanks for your feedback. The download speeds can vary from user to user, and also depends on the server and protocol selected. We tried NordVPN while being connected to a server based in USA and using OpenVPN protocol. Can you please let us the know server location and protocol you used while downloading torrents with NordVPN? Thanks again!

Never go for Ivacy VPN ! They provide a pathetic service.
I subscribed to their services on June 2016 for one year @ $1.83 PM. For six months everything worked well, so I extended their service for 2 more years. Then the problems started, the nearest servers would fail and I had to always rely on distant servers with a very high ping and low speeds. Their P2P services have become terrible ! Their customer service is pathetic ! They tell you to do this and that and probably never understand what our problem is.
And another irritating thing is they do not give refunds, even for the period starting from December 2016 !
I do not know how to get the refund !

I’m currently using a different VPN, but PIA has been catching my attention for a while. I want to know that if I can use the VPN service without downloading their app, i.e. through manual configuration on mobile or PC.

I prefer torrent for watching TV shows, movies and popular videos. However, I suggest users stay away from torrent software as it can spread malware on your system. So, I was in search of a decent VPN for a reliable protection while torrenting, and eventually I came up with PureVPN. With a range of strong encryption protocols (L2TP\IPSec) and wallet-friendly plans, it is the safest and economical solution for P2P downloads.

In some cases torrenting is very risky because I personally have received a notice from DMC. However, I won’t go into the details but I would highly recommend that you don’t download torrents with a free VPN. In fact, you should read the detailed policy of torrenting before choosing any VPN because some providers may provide your credentials when asked by authorities. While others burn the records for providing 100% security and privacy to their users. That’s why I am currently using ExpressVPN and I am very much satisfied with its service.

    • Danni baird says:

Yes, @Alice i also have to face the similar issue, in fact, i was very annoyed when I received a infringement notice first time in my life, although I usually take proper steps to make my torrenting private and for this purpose I normally use peer block and cyber ghost free vpn whenever I did torrent, well it was very frustrating moment when I received another notice and then my friend tell me that paid vpns provide 9 times much better protection than free ones. However according to above mentioned table I taking account from ivacy and I hope It will work better.

      • nicholas kane says:

Yeah, I am totally agree with your statement that paid VPNs provide 9 times better protection then free VPNs.

  11. Martin says:

One of the major reasons why people recommend VPN over proxies is that torrent clients reveal your true location and leak information while using proxy. Although, the latest version of torrent clients are designed to do a better job at this but I personally don’t trust proxy services. They can be unreliable and fail to protect you while using torrents. I would rather stick with a VPN just because of this. Currently, I am using PIA (Private Internet Access) but I have also heard good reviews about PureVPN.

  12. Kailee says:

Several VPN providers permit the best torrenting services and many people use VPN services for downloading torrent with complete anonymity and security. The best part of torrenting with VPN that you can’t tracked or caught anyone because its keep your credential secure / hide so no DMCA notice you will have to receive, however from the above mentioned comparison table I choose PureVPN.

  13. Michael Martin says:

Before selecting any VPN, it is very important to read the logs and privacy policy of the provider. This is because some providers do not support torrents or P2P file sharing. That’s why it is important to have some knowledge about how a provider might affect your privacy before you use it for torrenting.

  14. Robert Brown says:

It is a perfect list of best torrent VPN. I am living in North America and just a couple of days before I bought a VPN from your website, especially for torrenting, I am very happy to say that it is working like a charm. No drop in speed as you have mentioned in you purevpn review. In fact I am also watching BBC iPlayer with this account.

  15. Richard White says:

From the last couple of months I am using Purevpn for torrenting and I am very satisfied with its services. In fact the good things are that it support responds within few minutes after my initial query. But you didn’t mention PIA over here because it is also a good torrent vpn but its prices are high than purevpn.

  16. Deborah Jones says:

VPN is surely most-suitable option to use torrent, it cloaks my original IP address when downloading files from torrent. In this way no one identifies me. Thumbs up to the author ! keep up the good work.

  17. Elijah says:

Torrent is like a bucket full of gold. I remember the time when I downloaded Transformers, Wolf of Wall Street and Ironman from the torrent, until I received this copyright infringement notice. I searched the internet to continue using the torrents as I can’t afford spending hundreds of dollar on movies. So, I came up with VPN, VPN has enabled me to download unlimited movies on monthly basis. Thanks for sharing such a good post!

PirateBay is blocked in the place where I live, and it sucks! It’s been months, and unfortunately, I have been trying to find a solution but always leave with little to no success. But today, thanks to this blog I was finally able to access PirateBay with the help of a Torrent VPN. Great work on the blog, gentlemen. I hope you guys keep doing your work straight.

  19. James William says:

I don’t know if there is any alternate available to this, but this is the best solution for me and my torrennting needs. It is kind of complicated for an average user like me, though you’ll get along with a torrent VPN in no time. Thanks to you guys, I’m now torrenting files like I used to back in the day. Cheers!

Hi, Thanks for all your help. I chatted with one of the above, inquiring about P2P in the USA.
“P2P/File-sharing is not allowed on servers of countries where it’s illegal by law to do so such as United Kingdom (UK), United States (US), Canada, Australia etc…….
File-sharing is allowed, but only on specific selected servers……..”
Confused now. I will be able to access those specific servers?
Thank you also for the in depth guide for Mac.
    Paula

    • admin says:

Hi Paula, thanks for the question. File sharing is indeed under fire in countries like the US, UK, Canada and Australia. But you can engage in P2P/File-sharing activity from these countries by connecting to the VPN servers of the countries where File Shharing is legal. As long as you don’t engage in any copyright infringements, you have nothing to worry about. However, anti-file-sharing measures are usually very limited and are usually always preceeded by rather harmless warning notices by the ISP so you have a bit of a margin in case you ever get flagged during a P2P session in the event of a worst case scenario.
I hope I managed to help you out. Do feel free to get back to me if you’ve got any more questions. Cheers!
