But its VPN service also deserves some credit because of its speed considering that it only offers around 53 serves in 34 countries. Also, check out the more popular VPN of 2021.
To figure out how fast AVG VPN can be, I conducted an in-depth AVG Secure VPN speed test with my 100 Mbps internet connection. I wanted to be completely transparent and test out this service as extensively as possible.

AVG Secure VPN’s in-depth speed test for 2020
To figure out whether AVG Secure VPN is fast or not, I tested its performance using nine (9) different servers with my 100 Mbps internet connection. Here’s how my testing went.
First I tested out the Australian server of AVG VPN. When I ran the test, managed to output a download speed of 78.5 Mbps and an upload speed of 77.46 Mbps with 195 ms ping. This is without a doubt fast.
With the Brazilian server, my download speed dropped slightly. When I ran the test, I managed to achieve a download speed of 69 Mbps and an upload speed of 78.22 Mbps with 347 ms ping. This time my pings were significantly high.
With the Canadian server, things improved majorly. This time, AVG VPN managed to output a download speed of 86.94 Mbps and an upload speed of 80.24 Mbps with 237 ms ping. Now that’s impressive.
Next, I moved on to the German server. This time, my upload speeds suffered quite a bit. When I ran the test, I managed to achieve a download speed of 77.44 Mbps and an upload speed of 23.12 Mbps with 158 ms ping.
When I connected to the Israeli server, my download speed dropped quite abruptly. Once I ran the test, I noted down my download speed at just 22 Mbps. But on the plus side, I still managed to get an upload speed of 78.57 Mbps with 202 ms ping.
Next, I connected to an Asian server. Once I ran the speed test with the Japanese server of AVG VPN, I managed to achieve a download speed of 77 Mbps and an upload speed of 80.54 Mbps with 391 ms ping.
The Netherlands server performed particularly well. When I ran the test, AVG VPN managed to output a download speed of 84.5 Mbps and an upload speed of 87.11 Mbps with just 161 ms ping.
After that, I connected to the Singapore server. I wanted to see how AVG VPN would perform on a long-distance server location. When I ran the test, AVG VPN managed to output a download speed of 75.41 Mbps and an upload speed of 80.73 Mbps with just 293 ms ping.
A bit about AVG Secure VPN
As I said earlier, AVG is mostly known because of its powerful antivirus programs. AVG VPN, on the other hand, is well quite basic in terms of features. It only offers some 53 servers in 34 countries and can work with some streaming services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, HBO Go, and Amazon Prime.
As for features, AVG Secure VPN just comes with a kill switch, 256-bit AES encryption and that’s about it. But this VPN is not completely barren. What I like about it is its decent app compatibility. Aside from using it on your laptop or smartphone, you can also use it with Kodi and Roku devices as well.
If we talk about pricing, AVG Secure VPN is not all that expensive. It starts at $3.99/mo. Another good thing about AVG VPN is that it also offers a 7-days free trial without requiring any credit card information. More Speed Test Results Other than AVG Secure VPN
After compiling all the results from the AVG Secure VPN speed test, I think it’s pretty obvious that AVG VPN is fast. However, not on all server locations. For instance, while the Israeli server suffered from bad download speed, the German server suffered from bad upload speed.
But when connected to other server locations, AVG Secure VPN performed quite well. It even managed to deliver speeds in the 80s range which is quite impressive. You can also discover the fastest VPN services that we compiled on the basis of our tests.
If we talk about real-world usability experience, I would say that AVG Secure VPN’s speed never made it hard or inconvenient for me to browse the web during my testing period. I was able to stream HD content without any issues and even play games with manageable latency.
But if you encounter any connectivity issues, then definitely check out our AVG Secure VPN not working guide for quick troubleshooting tips.
That being said, if you end up not liking AVG Secure VPN, then you can always cancel your AVG Secure VPN subscription and get a refunded.
