PureVPN Speed Test – How fast are their servers in 2022?

Want to know if PureVPN's fast? Can you stream, game and torrent with it? Check out this article where I conduct an in-depth PureVPN Speed Test on 9 different servers worldwide. Results may shock you.

PureVPN is one of the popular VPN services. It offers 6,500+ servers in 180+ locations and it claims to be the fastest VPN service in the industry, but is it true?

Well, after performing an extensive PureVPN speed test for 2022, I can definitely say that PureVPN is in fact fast, however, you may experience inconsistency across different servers. For a better experience, you can check the fastest VPN recommended and tested by VPNRanks.

But on the bright side, PureVPN is the only VPN I tested in a really long time that can establish a secure connection in the first attempt. You don’t need to wait too long or try different servers to get connected to the internet. That’s something I really like.

In order to give a clear idea of what to expect from PureVPN in terms of speed, I tested PureVPN’s speeds using nine (9) different global server locations.

In order to give you an idea of how PureVPN would perform across different servers, I tested nine (9) different server locations of PureVPN with my 100 Mbps internet connection. While performing my tests, I noted down ping, download, and upload speeds using Ookla’s speed test tool.

Here’s a screenshot of my actual speed test result without PureVPN connected:

From the Americas region, I tested PureVPN’s Canadian and U.S servers.

Does PureVPN Affect my Connection Speed?

PureVPN will mostly slow down your internet speeds. In fact, any VPN you use will burden down your connection because of encryption. Also, you may experience slow speeds depending on the distance between you and the server you’re connected to.

But if you live in a country where ISPs are known to throttle connection speeds, PureVPN can actually improve your internet connection performance. By masking your IP address and your network traffic, PureVPN can prevent your ISP from knowing what you do online. This way, your ISP will not be unable to throttle your connection.

PureVPN Speed Test FAQs

As per my testing, PureVPN managed to offer 90.84 Mbps downloading speed on its France – Paris server.

Yes, PureVPN will slow down your internet speeds in most cases. Because of secure protocols and military-grade encryption, PureVPN will slow down your internet speeds by 15% to 20%.

The reason why PureVPN is working slow at your end maybe because you’re either connecting to a server that’s too far away from you, or you’re using a slow protocol. For instance, L2TP/IPSEC is slow compared to OpenVPN.

Is PureVPN fast?

After compiling all the results from the PureVPN speed test, I can definitely say that PureVPN is fast, but not the fastest.

If you take a look at the table at the start of this article, you’ll see that PureVPN only showed sluggish performance on the Spanish server. That was the only time PureVPN speeds dropped. The rest of the server locations offered great speed without a doubt.

If we talk about real-world usability experience, I didn’t notice PureVPN burden down my internet performance at any point during my testing. Browsing, streaming, torrenting, and gaming all went smoothly without a hitch. So, overall, if you want fast speeds at a budget price, definitely check out PureVPN.
