LimeVPN began its operation in 2014 as a cheap VPN service provider. But the thing is, it isn’t cheap at all. Its basic plan features are something that you can get from any free VPN. However, it is cheap, fast and it unblocks Netflix. It is available in only 17 locations, and its servers aren’t fast enough, it does however offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Luckily, LimeVPN did unblock US Netflix with a dedicated IP that you will get from its Pro Plan, but the results are inconsistent. Therefore, if you want the best VPN service, you are better off with top-premium VPNs like ExpressVPN or Surfshark.

My Rating Criteria
This is the list of factors I will be using to perform Lime VPN review:
- Pricing – How much does LimeVPN cost?
- Security – Encryption & features
- Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?
- Speed – How fast is LimeVPN?
- Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?
- Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?
- Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support
- Compatibility – Apps and supported devices
Pricing – How much does LimeVPN cost?
LimeVPN is the cheapest VPN when it comes to its Basic Plan, but its Pro Plan is quite expensive.
It has a monthly plan, 1-year plan, and 2-year plan. I will be discussing its 1 year and 2-year plan only.
1-Year Plan
2-Year Plan
The difference between the Basic Plan and Pro Plan is the number of multi-logins. You get 20+ multi-logins with the Pro Plan. Also, it offers a dedicated IP feature to its users and a lot of other features that Basic Plan lacks. You can find some good cheap VPNs that cost nearly as LimeVPN.
Payment Methods
Here is a list of payment methods accepted by LimeVPN:
- PayPal
- VISA
- MasterCard
- American Express
- Discover
- Amazon
- Bitcoin
Money-Back Guarantee
LimeVPN offers a generous 30-day money-back guarantee with all package plans.
While covering this LimeVPN review, I discovered that all refunds are made within three business days of request.
Overall, LimeVPN is quite cheap in terms of pricing. But if you’re looking for a more premium VPN at low prices, check out our awesome deals on VPNs to get amazing discounts!
Security – Encryption & features
LimeVPN uses 256-bit military-grade encryption, the strongest in the VPN industry. The provider currently offers PPTP, OpenVPN or SoftEther, L2TP, and SSTP.
OpenVPN SSL and SoftEther protocols are excellent for impregnable data protection.
The server also offers SOCKS proxy, HTTPS proxy, IKEA UDP, and TCP protocols. The SOCKS proxy and HTTP proxy are great options if you are searching for optimum speed.
Jurisdiction –Is it located in a 5-eyes country?
LimeVPN is based in Hong Kong, not a part of 5 eyes, 9 eyes, or 14 eyes country. That is a piece of good news for LimeVPN users because any company that falls under these countries will have to share users’ data when asked upon.
LimeVPN is safe to use unless it doesn’t keep any logs that I will be discussing in this LimeVPN review.
Servers
It has servers in 17 locations but doesn’t specify the exact number of servers. It does mention that it has 6,000+ IPs that are shared among LimeVPN users.
It doesn’t have servers in China, Russia, or the Middle East. This means it does not have obfuscated servers that unblock websites, even in countries with strict internet regulations.
Speed – How fast is LimeVPN?
LimeVPN speed is just average. It has 3 separate servers for streaming, i.e., servers in Chicago, San Francisco, and Amsterdam.
In fact, I found a similar speed for speed dedicated servers and normal servers.
My internet speed before connecting to the LimeVPN server was 31 Mbps. But as I connected to its Amsterdam server, my speed declined to 13.45 Mbps.
Here is the speed test result:
Here you can find the fastest VPN of 2022.
Streaming –Does it work with Netflix?
It only unblocks US Netflix with a Pro Plan, but with a Basic Plan, it does not. The only reason why it unblocks Netflix with a Pro Plan is that it gives users a dedicated IP or fresh IP that any other user has not used.
If you use it properly, it will go on unblocking Netflix and other streaming channels such as Hulu, HBO, and more.
Torrenting
In our LimeVPN review, I found that it has only 1 server that works with Torrenting. This is server-based in Amsterdam. You can download torrents with only the Amsterdam server.
If you mistakenly use another server for torrenting, it will get you in trouble. It also works well with Kodi streaming players. Yes, it works on Kodi and lets you watch Live TV from anywhere and stream Movies anonymously.
There happen to be many more VPNs that work exceptionally well with this media player. I have a list of the best free VPN for Kodi to help you in anonymous streaming free content.
Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?
I could not find any leaks in all of these tests. I connected to the same Amsterdam server, the one I used to test speed.
Here are the leak test results.
IP Test
DNS Test
WebRTC Test
Virus Test
There were NO viruses found when I tested its Windows client software through VirusTotal.
Here is the screenshot of the virus test results:
Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support
It’s good to know that LimeVPN does not store any logs. It is safe to assume that LimeVPN is a safe VPN service.
Here is the privacy statement:
“Each time you connect to LimeVPN, your connection gets dynamic IP which is one of 6000+ anonymous IPs in our pool. Therefore, your real IP becomes masked.”
That’s partially correct. It will be hard to decipher your dynamic IP, but if they already know your original IP, they could easily track it. It also states that they have their own servers. The technology behind LimeVPN was fully developed in-house, so your data remains completely private.
Customer Support
It has good customer support. You can contact their support staff by creating a Ticket. Other than that, it has a FAQs page and Troubleshooting.
It previously had live chat support but is not currently offering it. Most importantly, Lime VPN offers remote support to users who might be struggling to configure their service.
To further assist the users, Lime VPN offers several documentation portals.
Compatibility – Apps and supported devices
LimeVPN app is available for Windows, iOS, macOS, Android, Linux, and Routers. You will need to set up the Android and iOS app manually because there is no dedicated app.

Do I Recommend LimeVPN?
No, I do not recommend LimeVPN.
LimeVPN might look like it is the cheapest VPN, but honestly, it is the most expensive VPN I reviewed. Its Basic Plan is the cheapest, but it doesn’t offer as many features as the Pro Plan. It has servers in only 17 locations which isn’t much considering the price they are charging. Its speed is pathetic, and it doesn’t offer native apps, making it difficult to use.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this VPN to my readers.
