ibVPN uses the highest VPN encryption i.e. 256-bit.

Kill Switch

The Kill Switch option provided by ibVPN is a bit different from other VPN providers.

The others only give you the option to disconnect all the network activities when your connection drops. ibVPN, however, lets you choose whether you want to kill the entire connection or just cut off access to specific applications.

TOR over VPN

When you subscribe to their ultimate package, you get the option TOR over VPN. It encrypts your data and routes it through VPN server, then sends it over a TOR node.

This adds extra security to your data security and you won’t require any additional software to use TOR.

Stealth VPN

Few years ago, ibVPN announced the launch of their new protocol – Stealth VPN. This protocol contributes to your online freedom and is very hard to be detected by firewalls or other web applications that might try to block/stop your traffic generated through a VPN server.

Double VPN

The double VPN technology allows you to connect to two different servers. This gives you an extra layer of encryption.

In addition, since your real IP is already encrypted, the second server has absolutely no information about you.

Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

ibVPN is based in Transylvania, Romania that doesn’t fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, or 14 eyes country.

All of their applications, operations, and even the support staff are based in Romania.

That is a good thing indeed. Many VPNs claim that they are located in an offshore country but many of their operations are being conducted in a country located in 5 eyes. ibVPN is not that type of a VPN.

Servers

When I performed this ibVPN review, I found that it has over 200+ servers and presence in 57 countries. It also include Middle East countries such as the UAE, which is rare from VPN service provider.

It doesn’t have a server in China, but it does have multiple servers in Hong Kong. That way, people living outside of China can get access to Chinese websites from Hong Kong server.

Speed – How fast is ibVPN?

ibvPN servers are quite fast. Not all of its servers are fast though, it has already marked which servers are dedicated for fast streaming and which server for P2P torrenting.

I connected to their UK server to test their speed. My internet speed before connecting to a VPN was 34 Mbps, but once I did, my internet speed went down to only 27.59 Mbps.

Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?

ibVPN does not work with Netflix even though it has around 25 US servers.

Netflix has installed VPN detection tools that easily specifies which traffic is VPN traffic. Once it finds out, it blacklists the IP.

Once the IP is blacklisted, there is no one any user can access Netflix website with that IP.

Torrenting

If you only need a VPN to download torrents, then its Torrent VPN pricing plan is worth buying.

Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

In this ibVPN review USA, it easily passed the leak test. I connected to their UK server to find any leaks.

I checked for any viruses that could be found in their Windows client. Luckily, I did not found any viruses.

Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support

ibVPN does not store any kind of logs. They do collect personal information such as Name and Email Address only for identifying users account.

This is what the statement says:

“We collect personally identifiable information about you, but we keep that minimal only the name and the email address is required when you register for an account.”

Another statement reads:

“We do NOT collect or log any traffic or use of the VPN, SmartDNS, or proxy services.”

ibVPN is a safe VPN to use.
