Celo VPN Review 2021
Celo VPN is an Australian service accessible at an expensive $6/month price. It has only 20 servers in 15 countries that allow both torrenting and Netflix both. The service has earned 3.0 stars rating overall.
The name Celo is derived from Latin, meaning to hide, conceal or keep secret. Celo VPN serves countless clients around the world. Being client-centric, Celo provides safe, reliable, and affordable services to its users.
Celo VPN is operated by the Australian-based Celo Net. It is a relatively unknown VPN mostly due to the small scope of its operations.
Although it offers numerous features like a free trial, Netflix unblocking, and torrenting support, however, expensive pricing, dubious jurisdiction, and below-average speeds have hampered its reputation a great deal.
Therefore, I don’t recommend the service to conscious privacy seekers.

Pricing – What is the cost of Celo VPN?
Its overall pricing strategy is a bit on the higher side. Currently, they offer only one plan:
Celo VPN facilitates its users by accepting all popular, and leading Credit/ Debit Cards, Master Card, Visa, American Express, Payza, and Discover are accepted by Celo VPN.
In addition to this third party, payments are accepted by Celo VPN. Bitcoin and PayPal are considered the most reliable third-party transaction methods. It is used frequently around the globe.
Interestingly, all these pricing plans include an exclusive 6 devices simultaneous connection feature along with 2 days free trial benefit. Similarly, you can claim the refund within 10 days after the subscription.
In terms of pricing, Celo is quite expensive. To get a better alternative at a lower price, head on over to our handpicked list of VPN deals 2019 and avail of amazing discounts!
Security – Protocols & Encryption
Celo offers four protocols, and these are:
All three of these protocols have their unique strengths. SSTP is mostly suited for streaming geo-locked videos. Let’s say you are in Papua New Guinea and wish to watch MLB highlight that is restricted to the United States; SSTP will do the job.
Meanwhile, L2TP/IPsec is the favorite of Smartphone users as it uses little battery to function. Although it is less capable than some of its more powerful cousins, L2TP does, in fact, shield you from a variety of threats on the net.
On the other hand, OpenVPN is the superstar of the protocol world. It is to tunneling protocols what Johnny Cash was too old country.
The OpenVPN protocol balances speed and security and sports 256-bit military-grade encryption. WireGuard protocol is one of the latest additions in the protocols armory that uses updated encryption automatically.
In addition to this, you can try out its other security features in the shape of an internet kill switch alongside adware and malware blocker too.

Jurisdiction – Belongs to Five Eye Country
Celo VPN is a brainchild of CELO NET PTY LTD, an Australian company. It suggests that the service resides mainly from an unsafe jurisdiction, i.e., Australia, which is a part of 5 eyes.
The VPN would have to abide by obligatory data retention rules by hook or crook.
Celo VPN has a range of servers dispersed in various regions. 15 major countries of the world are covered, including United States, Netherlands, Russia, Australia, and Sweden.
In short, you can connect to any server of your choice from the list of 20 servers worldwide.
That said, the service has to improve its server network drastically. This is because other VPNs like ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and NordVPN are offering their servers in huge numbers across the globe.
In case it does not expand its server locations to a certain extent, it may lose a major chunk of its customer base in the near future.
Speed – On the Lower Side
Celo VPN does not bode quite well with speed in general. I connected to its Swedish server to check its speed while using a 30 Mbps internet connection.
I received the following outcome eventually:
As you can notice, there is a downward spike of almost 80% in speed.
Streaming – Does it Support Netflix & Torrenting?
Luckily, this Australian VPN service allows you to unblock the US Netflix media library anonymously. By doing so, you may your favorite US TV shows or movies securely from anywhere.
The same goes for torrenting as it favors torrenting activities of their users completely. However, there is a catch. You should not use the VPN for downloading illegal content.
Otherwise, you can find yourself in the hot waters of legal troubles.
Leaks – IP, DNS, WebRTC & Virus Tests
Celo VPN does not spread any virus or malware to your system at all. Furthermore, your IP address, WebRTC or DNS information won’t be leaked. Here are the snapshots:
Trustworthiness – Logging Policy & Customer Support
Unlike many VPN providers, Celo VPN offers a no-logging policy. This means user activities are not monitored under any circumstances.
This benefit is rarely offered by any VPN provider in the market. As most of the providers prefer not to discuss their logging and privacy policies; as a result, the user activity log is maintained on their VPN servers.
In terms of customer support, Celo VPN delivers different options that include:
- Contact Us
You can send them an email if you want to get the solutions to your queries in writing. Likewise, the announcement section provided relevant and updated news related to the latest privacy trends.
Through Knowledgebase, you can download and install the service on your preferred platforms. Last but not the least, FAQs offer answers that relate to general account questions.
Compatibility – Supports all the Leading Platforms
Celo VPN does not have dedicated apps, but it can be configured on all popular platforms. If you wish to avail of the service on different platforms, you will need a third-party OpenVPN app.
The same is the case for Windows, Android, and Linux. You can get the OpenVPN app on the Celo VPN download section of the VPN’s website.
It doesn’t matter which device you use; Celo VPN works flawlessly on mentioned platforms giving you the ultimate streaming and online experience.

Do I Recommend Celo VPN?
No, I don’t recommend Celo VPN.
This Australian VPN service does not have a multitude of servers like other VPNs. They are below-par on other areas like speed, compatibility, and jurisdiction.
On the brighter side, the service does not reveal your actual whereabouts online. Moreover, it follows the no-logging notion in the right way.
Therefore, I have given this VPN a 3.0/5.0 stars rating overall.
