Tired of all the website notices telling you that every ‘website is unavailable in your region’? Unblocking websites is easy! The best way to unblock websites is to use a method that keeps you safe from government spying and surveillance. There are a number of different ways you can unblock websites.
A Virtual Private Tunnel (VPN) is the best way to unblock websites. Using a VPN, you can unblock and access blocked websites from anywhere in the world. You will never have to bother about another ‘blocked website’ notification ever again.
A VPN is the best, tried and tested way to unlock the internet, unblock and access blocked websites, hide your online identity and ensure complete online freedom from surveillance and cybercrime. VPN services were very expensive ten years ago, but now you can get one for as low as $3 to $4 per month.

How are Websites Blocked?
But before you are ready to unblock websites at school or at work (which I will talk about later), make sure you know a bit about how websites are blocked (which I will talk about right now).
Every internet user (including you) has a unique external IP address. This IP address is your name on the internet, and the first few digits of your IP address represent your country. Kinda like a country code at the start of the phone number.
Every website you access has a system that allows it to see your IP address. This makes it easy for the website programming to figure out which country the website’s users are sitting in. That is basically how websites figure out which language to show the website in and other such stuff that makes the website more comfortable for you.
Since every website has to read your IP address, it becomes possible for the website administrators to put access blocks/restrictions on the website. These access blocks/restrictions are called Geo-IP blocks and are used to limit internet users’ website access, based on their countries.
Wanna see your IP address? Open command prompt, type in ‘ipconfig’ and press enter. At the top of the details will be your external IP address. Or go to www.whatismyip.com. Your IP address will be visible on the front page of the website.
Understanding the Basics of Geo-IP Restrictions
Websites are usually blocked by using Geo-IP restrictions. This means that a website that only wants to serve US based internet users will block out internet users coming from all non-US IP addresses. Geo-IP restrictions can be placed on just about any website. Different websites use Geo-IP restrictions for different reasons.
Every website has the right to implement Geo-IP restrictions and it is up to the website owner/adminsitrator to decide which countries’ users it wishes to let in and which countries’ users it wishes to block out.
Common Uses of VPN to Unblock and Access Websites
There are different reasons because of which you may need to unblock websites.
Case 1: Schools, colleges, universities and offices block websites. If you want to unblock websites at school or at work then you first need to understand that your institution/organization is blocking websites at the local end. However, since all the ends are eventually and unavoidably connected to the internet, a little bit of IP juggling should allow you to unblock and access blocked websites.
Case 2: Some websites do it because they want to limit server loads. Popular streaming websites like Netflix and Hulu implement Geo-IP restrictions so that their servers don’t get overloaded. Streaming quality can suffer if the servers of Netflix and Hulu get overloaded. So they only give permission to other countries when they feel that they have enough processing power. A VPN for Netflix comes forth here and allows us to access Netflix USA content at anywhere across the globe.
Case 3: A third case is when they are unable to provide services to other regions. For example, a local service that only gives services in the country will not be able to give services to people from abroad. So they simply block out all other internet users.
VPN is Safer than DNS Proxy
When you set out to find ways to unblock and access websites, you will undoubtedly come across DNS. The DNS Proxy tool (or Free Proxy tool as most websites like to call it) is the most sophisticated online system of data theft. The DNS proxy tool is dangerous for two reasons:
1. There is no such thing as a free dinner. Nobody will let you unblock and access websites for free, out of the goodness of their heart. When you are not paying, you are the product, and somebody else is the customer.
2. DNS Proxy services will slow down your internet speed. Videos won’t stream, Skype won’t work right, heavy websites won’t load all the way and your entire internet experience will get ruined. And don’t make the mistake of downloading anything while using DNS proxy.
Only use the Domain Name System (DNS) Proxy tool if you have no Facebook profile, no PayPal account, no Twitter account and no bank account. That is because a DNS Proxy tool switches your IP, but it leaves you fully exposed and completely unprotected. Governments and cyber criminals can easily see your online activity when you are using a DNS proxy tool. You are a sitting duck when you use DNS proxy.
Of course the first option is to consider moving to the country where for which the website has been designed. So the next time Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer or Pandora tell you that the website is not available for your region, change your region! Grab the first flight to the US or the UK and all your website unblocking worries will be over forever.
But seriously – nothing is worse than a blocked website, and nothing is easier than a simple solution to unblock websites. But you can’t simply unblock a website with a few clicks! Ok maybe you can with a VPN, but it’s not always very safe because you’re gonna be breaking a rule when you do that and you wanna be careful that you don’t get red-flagged or caught. A VPN keeps you safe and lets you unblock and access websites with ease.
