IronSocket VPN is based in Hong Kong that claims to protect user’s privacy and identity.

But looking at their privacy policy, it reveals that it keeps track of your IP address, time stamps, and session logs.

It isn’t the service I would recommend for streaming because it doesn’t unblock Netflix. Its prices are somewhat affordable, but it doesn’t justify the features it offers.

It has 90 servers in 38 countries which isn’t much when compared to PureVPN or NordVPN.

My Rating Criteria

Below you will find 8 factors that I used to review IronSocket VPN:

Pricing – How much does IronSocket VPN cost?

IronSocket VPNs price is not quite expensive but it isn’t affordable too. It offers 3 different pricing plans. I have listed them below:

ironsocket pricing..

In the above image, you will also find what features IronSocket VPN is offering for each plan.

When you compare IronSocket with industry’s leaders in features and price, there’s simply no one better than Surfshark or PureVPN. To get these VPNs at a discounted price, check out our list of VPN deals and save money!

Coming back to IronSocket, all IronSocket plans are covered with a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Payment Options

These are the payment options offered by IronSocket to its buyers:

  • PayPal
  • MasterCard

  • American Express
  • Discover

Security – Encryption & features

In this IronSocket review, I found that it uses the industry’s standard encryption i.e. 256-bit. It is the highest encryption level that protects online traffic within a tunnel.

When it comes to tunneling protocols it uses OpenVPN, PPTP, & L2TP. For proxy, it uses HTTP, SOCKS5, & DNS Proxy.

  • PPTP uses the 128-bit encryption
  • L2TP uses the AES algorithm with 256 bit keys
  • OpenVPN uses both 128 bit keys and AES algorithm with 256 bit keys on selected servers.

Jurisdiction –Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

IronSocket VPN is based in Hong Kong, a country that does not fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, and 14 eyes country. IronSocket is not bound by the law to handover users’ information because the authorities said so.

If you want to know if your VPN is in the right jurisdiction, then refer to our guide 5 eyes countries.

Servers

IronSocket has 90+ servers in 38 countries around the world. These include server spreads in the US, UK, Australia and Canada amongst other countries.

ironsocket server

It doesn’t have servers located in China because it does not uses obfuscation server technology that unblocks content even in countries that have the toughest internet restrictions.

Speed – How fast is IronSocket VPN?

While conducting a speed test for IronSocket VPN review, I found that it has good server speed. I wouldn’t say fast, but the figures I received what just good enough from many VPN services.

Before connecting to IronSocket, my internet speed was about 33 Mbps. After I connected to its Switzerland server, my speed declined to 19.29 Mbps which isn’t bad at all.

Here is the snapshot for the speed test:

IronSocket-VPN-Speed-Test

As you can see, the speed declined by 45%

Streaming –Does it work with Netflix?

Unfortunately, VPN IronSocket does not unblock US Netflix or breaks online restrictions imposed by Netflix.

Netflix uses strong VPN detection technology that can easily identify between normal traffic and VPN traffic.

Only 7 of its servers out of 90 allows P2P torrenting. These servers are located in Cyprus, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.

IronSocket VPN also works best with Kodi, a streaming media player. You have to install a VPN on Kodi first to access geo-restricted content and then start streaming.

Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

IronSocket VPN does NOT leak IP, DNS, or WebRTC. It is a leak proof VPN that is safe to use.

To run the test, I used the same Switzerland server. Here are the test results:

Virus Test

I also checked for any viruses. For that, I had to download their Windows client and run the virus test. I found zero viruses, malware, or adware.

Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support

IronSocket’s privacy policy has to be the most transparent policy. It admits that it keeps both connection logs and usage logs.

It clearly states the information they collect:

  • IP address, browser type, operating system
  • Time of visit (on their website)
  • Email address and password
  • Subscription choice
  • Time and date of the sessions (when connected to VPN)
  • VPN IP address

As you can identity it yourself, the first and the last two information are very critical to your online privacy as I learnt in this IronSocket VPN review

In short, IronSocket VPN knows what is your current IP, at what time you connected to its VPN, and what VPN IP you connected. It’s privacy policy suggests, it is not a safe VPN to use.

Customer Support

IronSocket VPN has decent customer support with the good response time. IronSocket provides Ticket Support, Email, and FAQs section.

It doesn’t have a live chat support which is critical to customer success. It also has a setup guides page that shows step-by-step tutorials for different devices.

Compatibility – Apps and supported devices

IronSocket is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. It still offers a VPN client for Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10.

All the user’s guide is available for downloading and installing IronSocket VPN app.

You can also request for any feature or report a bug here.

You can also manually setup IronSocket on Routers too.

VPN Comparison between IronSocket VPN and PureVPN

Alternative VPN Choices for You

My review about Ironsocket explores that users have the unlimited option when they need to secure your privacy. Here is the list of other VPN services in case you do not want to avail Ironsocket for any reason:

Do I Recommend IronSocket VPN?

No, there is no reason to recommend IronSocket VPN.

IronSocket is a No-Log VPN that clearly states that it tracks your original IP address and the time and date you connected to their VPN.

It isn’t the best choice for streaming as well. It doesn’t unblock US Netflix, which is the source of many users’ entertainment.

It only has 90 servers which are too less considering what industry leaders (PureVPN or NordVPN) are offering.

All-in-all, I wouldn’t recommend this VPN that jeopardize your online privacy.
