IronSocket-review-AU
IronSocket, based in Hong Kong, claims to protect the user’s privacy and identity. But their privacy policy reveals that it keeps track of your IP address, time stamps, and session logs.

As per this IronSocket Review in Australia, It isn’t the service I would recommend for streaming because it doesn’t unblock Netflix in Australia. Its prices are somewhat affordable, but it doesn’t justify the features it offers.

The VPN has servers in Australia, which isn’t much when compared to the best VPN for Australia (ExpressVPN or NordVPN). Read our full Getflix review in Australia to learn more about this VPN.

Security – Is IronSocket VPN safe?

IronSocket is safe to use in Australia. I found that it uses the industry’s standard encryption, i.e. 256-bit. It is the highest encryption level that protects online traffic within a tunnel.

When it comes to tunnelling protocols, it uses OpenVPN, PPTP, & L2TP. For proxy, it uses HTTP, SOCKS5, & DNS Proxy.

  • PPTP uses the 128-bit encryption
  • L2TP uses the AES algorithm with 256-bit keys
  • OpenVPN uses both 128-bit keys and the AES algorithm with 256-bit keys on selected servers.

Jurisdiction – Where is IronSocket located?

IronSocket is based in Hong Kong, a country that does not fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, and 14 eyes country. IronSocket is not bound by the law to hand over users’ information because the authorities said so.

If you want to know if your VPN is in the right jurisdiction, then refer to our guide 5 eyes countries.

Servers Network

Our IronSocket review in Australia has 90+ servers in 38 countries, including 2 servers location in Australia. These include server spreads in the US, UK, New Zealand, and Canada, amongst other countries.

ironsocket-server-network

It doesn’t have servers in China because it does not use obfuscation server technology that unblocks content, even in countries with the toughest internet restrictions.

Speed – How fast is IronSocket VPN in Australia?

While conducting a speed test for the IronSocket review in Australia, I found that it has good server speed. I wouldn’t say fast, but the figures I received what just good enough from many VPN services in Australia.

Before connecting to IronSocket, my internet speed was about 33 Mbps. After I connected to its Switzerland server, my speed declined to 19.29 Mbps which isn’t bad at all.

Here is the snapshot for the speed test:

As you can see, the speed declined by 45%.

IronSocket Review in Australia – Streaming –Does IronSocket work with Netflix?

Unfortunately, VPN IronSocket does not unblock US Netflix in Australia or break online restrictions imposed by Netflix.

Netflix uses strong VPN detection technology to identify between normal traffic and VPN traffic easily.

Only 7 of its servers out of 90 allow P2P torrenting. These servers are located in Cyprus, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.

IronSocket also works best with Kodi in Australia, a streaming media player. You must first install a VPN on Kodi to access geo-restricted content and start streaming.

Leaks – Does IronSocket leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

IronSocket does NOT leak IP, DNS, or WebRTC. It is a leak-proof VPN that is safe to use.

To run the test, I used the same Switzerland server. Here are the test results:

IP Leak Test:

DNS Leak Test:

WebRTC Leak Test:

I also checked for any viruses. I had to download their Windows client and run the virus test. I found zero viruses, malware, or adware.

Trustworthiness – Logs and Customer Support

IronSocket’s privacy policy has to be the most transparent. It admits that it keeps both connection logs and usage logs.

It clearly states the information they collect:

  • IP address, browser type, operating system
  • Time of visit (on their website)
  • Email address and password
  • Subscription choice
  • Time and date of the sessions (when connected to VPN)
  • VPN IP address

As you can identify yourself, the first and the last two pieces of information are very critical to your online privacy, as I learned in this IronSocket review in Australia.

In short, IronSocket knows what is your current IP, at what time you connected to its VPN, and what VPN IP you connected. Its privacy policy suggests it is not a safe VPN to use.

Customer Support

IronSocket has decent customer support with a good response time. IronSocket provides Ticket Support, Email, and FAQs section.

It doesn’t have live chat support, which is critical to customer success. It also has a setup guides page with step-by-step tutorials for different devices.

IronSocket Review in Australia – Compatibility – Apps and Supported Devices

IronSocket is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. It still offers a VPN client for Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10.

All the user’s guide is available for downloading and installing the IronSocket VPN app in Australia.

Alternative VPN Choices for You

My Ironsocket review in Australia explores that users have an unlimited option when they need to secure their privacy. Here is the list of other VPN services in case you do not want to avail of Ironsocket for any reason:

Do I Recommend IronSocket VPN in Australia?

No, there is no reason to recommend IronSocket VPN in Australia. IronSocket is a No-Log VPN that clearly states that it tracks your original IP address and the time and date you connected to their VPN.

It isn’t the best choice for streaming in Australia, well. It doesn’t unblock US Netflix, which is the source of many users’ entertainment.

It only has 90 servers which are too few considering what industry leaders (ExpressVPN or NordVPN) are offering in Australia.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this VPN that jeopardizes your online privacy. I’ve given it a 2.9-star rating in this IronSocket review in Australia.
