With the World Cup down to just one match remaining, fans all over the world will be holding their hearts as either of the two teams will now be the last one standing.
So far, European teams have been dominating the Russian World Cup. Whatever happens, it is clear that a European team will again be World Champions. Out of the last 8 World Cup finals, 6 have been won by European teams.
Interestingly, Croatia is the smallest country in the final for almost 70 years, with just a population of 402 million. In the group stage, it has beaten the likes of Argentina, Nigeria and Iceland, while overcoming Russia and England in the knockout phase. This is an amazing achievement as Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
It was also fortunate for Croatia to be on a less intimidating side of the knockout draw. For France, it is not the first time to appear in the finals, it will be its third time. However, France has not been in a shootout since the 2006 final. Both the teams will push in all their energy and try to perform their best.
It’s the final week of the #WorldCup and our Fan Movement members have been recreating some of their highlights.

When and Where will the France vs. Croatia Match Take Place?
The match will take place on Sunday, July 15, 2018. The kick off time is at 4pm BST. The final will take place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The stadium has hosted the 1980 Olympics, 1999 UEFA Cup Final and 2008 Champions League Final as well.
France’s Strategy and Performance
In the start, French had not been much on to the attacking side. However, they have realized the flaw in their strategy after almost losing to Argentina in the round of 16. France has a number of highly talented players in their team, so there’s no doubting the quality of the French players.
Croatian goalkeeper, Subasic has had great tournament so far with consistent performance in the knock out stages, while Hugo Lloris on the other side has been heroic.
On the defense side, Benjamin Pavard has gained much attention after his stunning goal against Argentina and is expected to do something similar this time too. Raphael Varane, with four clean sheets, is also serious threat for the Croatian team. Not to forget the devastating attack possessed by France.
Croatia’s Strategy and Performance
The team has so far surprised crowds in the tournament; previously they had 4 appearances in the football World Cup. Unfortunately, they have never secured a title. It has one of the strongest midfields and star players like Rakitic and Modri make key passes and oppose defenses.
On the defensive side, Croatia has Darijo Srna, Danijel Pranjic, and Vedran Corluka, so talent wise the team has an abundance of players. Luka Modric has been in the lime light with his strong skills, and gained a status of being one of the best players of the tournament.

France vs Croatia match odds
An applied mathematician and author, David Sumpter has written a book called “Soccermatics’’. The book applies mathematical laws and takes into account many factors to predict the results and has proven to be correct a lot of times. The model incorporates the fact that its Croatia’s first final, it defeated England 2-1 and that it won twice in knockout stage games. Croatia opened at a 60-1 odds and is now at 4-1
France, on the other hand, has played exceptionally well, partially thanks to emerging superstar Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, who both have three goals each.
According to soccerbots, the French are on the stronger side having plenty of confidence following impressive knockout stage wins over Argentina (4-3) and Belgium (1-0).
Luka Modric, the striker who scored goals in the first two contests is a great strength for Croatia. The team also has Ante Rebic and Ivan Perisic, both of whom have netted game winning goals. After reaching knockout stages, N’Golo Kanté of France has shown immense consistency, as he also did an amazing job keeping Belgium’s creative forces quiet in the semi-final.
Final Wohrds – Prediction
It is an amazing achievement for Croatia to reach their first world cup. However, Mbappe has impressed the crowd with his performance throughout the event, though Croatia can’t be taken lightly either, but our bet is on France.
Croatia lacks the pace to handle France’s forwards, but it has great organization and discipline to hold France. On the other hand, France’s midfield is not short of stars. With Pogba, Kante, Matuidi, Lemar, and others, they are capable of unlocking any defense.
