Percy Jackson and Olympians Surprises Fans with Early Arrival on Disney+ and Hulu!

Disney has gifted Rick Riordan fans with an early Christmas treat: the eagerly anticipated “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series debuted unexpectedly on Disney+ and Hulu, a day before its intended Dec. 20 premiere.

In a revision to the initial launch plan, Disney announced last week that the series’ first episode would premiere on both Hulu and Disney+, available for streaming until Jan. 31.

Consequently, viewers can now watch the first two episodes on Disney+, while Hulu offers the first episode. Disney+ will continue to release new episodes on a weekly basis until the finale of Season 1 on Jan. 31.

Pamela Levine, the marketing chief at Disney Branded Television and National Geographic Content, expressed gratitude towards the fervent Percy Jackson community for their unwavering support since the project’s inception. To show appreciation, Disney decided to allow fans early access to the first two episodes.

“We’re so grateful for the amazing and dedicated Percy Jackson fans who have enthusiastically supported this project from the very beginning. They’ve been counting down the days, and as a special thank you, we wanted to let our fans enjoy the first two episodes a bit earlier than expected.”

The adaptation of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series has been highly anticipated by fans. Since Rick Riordan released the first book in 2005, the series has garnered a loyal following. Although 20th Century Fox’s adaptations of the first two books in 2010 and 2013 were met with criticism from fans and Riordan alike due to significant deviations from the source material, the last three books didn’t make it to the screen.

This time around, Riordan takes on roles as both writer and executive producer for the Disney+ series, aiming for a five-season run to cover each of the series’ five books.

In an October interview with Variety, Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, revealed the studio’s ambition to adapt the expansive universe Riordan has created beyond the original five books. Despite Riordan’s previous film adaptations, Burke highlighted his open-minded approach to his work and the potential to adapt other series set within the Percy Jackson universe.

People have been talking about it, which means you need to tune in to Hulu outside US right away.
