Orlando Bloom Discusses Severe Stress with Katy Perry and Daughter Daisy at Home

The star of “Orlando Bloom: To The Edge” has ventured into heart-pounding stunts for his new Peacock series, tackling activities from deep-sea diving to extreme rock climbing.

At 47, the British actor recently discussed his high-octane adventures on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” revealing that these stunts are part of his latest passion project, which intriguingly includes a special cameo by his fiancée, Katy Perry, and a mention of their three-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

During the interview, Colbert playfully inquired whether Perry’s permission was taken before Bloom ventured on these daring escapades. Orlando explained,

Obviously, she’s fully supportive. We fully support one another in all of our ventures. But I don’t think she had quite fully grasped what I would be doing until I came home from work and I was clearly under severe stress.

Orlando shared the physical, emotional, and mental toll these stunts took on him, highlighting Perry’s concern for his well-being, “And she was like, ‘Are you okay?’ ’cause ordinarily I’m super chill.” Perry accompanies him in the series’ first episode during a thrilling wingsuit jump from 13,000 feet, playfully dubbing him “a flying wombat” in a teaser clip.

Orlando credits the inspiration for the series to the lockdown restrictions in 2020, which spurred him to challenge himself with these extreme adventures.

He told the Associated Press, “I’m like a collector of experiences in some ways,” noting that the intense experiences made him realize his own capabilities, “I’ve been remarkably gifted and fortunate to have some unique ones, but this was definitely like, ‘Oh, wow, I’m capable of this. Therefore I can do anything.'”

The actor specifically acknowledged the role of his instructors and the structured training he underwent, emphasizing the importance of preparation and technique, “It wasn’t just as simple as like, ‘I’m just going to go with the flow here.’ No, I learned the tools. There are protocols.”
