Iran targeted in aerial attack
The strike on Iran early Friday was probably meant as both a retaliatory action and a warning, a retired US Army Major General explained to CNN.

Israel has been contemplating its reaction to unprecedented strikes from Iran over the weekend, triggered by what is believed to be an Israeli attack on its embassy compound in Syria earlier in the month.

A US official confirmed to CNN that the strike on Friday was carried out by Israel, though Israel has not issued any statement on it.

Israel must maintain its vigilance” in case Iran chooses to retaliate with additional military action, said retired Major General Mark MacCarley.

By targeting Isfahan, a province in Iran that hosts crucial nuclear facilities, Israel likely intended to signal its capability to penetrate Iranian defenses effortlessly, MacCarley noted.

I think that there was a very deliberate thought process on the part of the Israeli war cabinet,” he said.

Israelis had to retaliate, but at the same time, within that retaliation was a message, and that is, 'Yes, we can get through. Don’t do it again. If you do it again, then all heck will break out.
