From Zendaya’s dramatic feathered ensemble to Bad Bunny’s neon-painted suit, these are VPNRanks’ choices for the most unforgettable looks from fashion’s most extravagant night. The 2024 Met Gala theme, “The Garden of Time” — inspired by a tale from J.G. Ballard, essentially echoed the perennial Met Gala mantra: Go big or stay home!

While there’s been a myriad of gorgeous gowns and exquisite tuxes, there are still some Met Gala 2024 instances where we can’t help but question, “Did they just… do that?”

Weirdest Hair Look of the Evening Award

Um… do we even have to say anything here?

Weirdly-Matching Couples Award

Eddie Redmayne and his wife Hannah Bagshawe matched in outfits by British designer Steve O Smith at the Met Gala. Eddie wore a black-and-white tulle skirt and shirt adorned with Smith’s avant-garde charcoal drawings, while Hannah opted for a strapless gown in the same print. Their looks seemed to channel a “Bride of Frankenstein” vibe. It looks like his role as Emcee in Cabaret on Broadway is getting to him.

Most Dramatic Hairstyle of the Evening Award

Going all out doesn’t mean you have to compromise your hair-do – especially when it’s Met Gala 2024. This definitely wasn’t the case here, which is why we had to give her the Most Dramatic Hairstyle of the Evening Award.

The ‘Did They Get Lost on Their Way to Another Event?’ Award

The outfit sure didn’t go with the theme of the evening for Met Gala 2024, leaving us wonder did she get lost on her way to another event?

Head-Turning (Literally) Headpiece Award

This one deserves a definite Head-Turning (Literally) Headpiece Award because of all the pain she must have had to endure during the evening. To wear it through the night deserves applause.

The “Did Someone Glue You Into That?” Award

Moore’s striking gown, a Harris Reed creation crafted from vintage archival wallpaper, required over 11,000 hours of silk embroidery. The intricacy of the heart-shaped shoulder piece, complete with spiky edges, might make one wonder if they had to glue her into such an elaborate dress for Met Gala 2024.
