Three members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including the recently elected President, Roger Binni, and vice president, Rajiv Shukla, have been issued visas by the Pakistan consulate in New Delhi. They will travel for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Muhammad Akram, the executive assistant, has also been granted a visa to travel to Pakistan. The Indian Cricket Board has applied for seven official visas and is still confident that Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, and other officials will be granted permission to travel to Pakistan.
Since the last visit during the Asian Cricket Council camp in 2005, Mr Binni and his VP will be the first senior BCCI officials to visit Pakistan in 18 years.
The BCCI President hopes that his trip, where he’s set to be hosted for a state dinner, will strengthen ties between Pakistan and India in cricket.
However, for the eagerly anticipated India vs. Pakistan game, the BCCI members and their Pakistan counterparts will go to Sri Lanka, the other host country.
