Ranked #19 out of 56 VPNs
FastVPN is a brainchild of a famous web hosting service Namecheap. As its name suggests, it’s definitely light on the pocket but does have a few drawbacks. However, first things first, let’s talk about what it does offer. There are simply two reasons to get enticed by this VPN service: a super-affordable price and unlimited simultaneous connections.
What’s more, the testing performed in this Namecheap FastVPN review revealed that the service works exceptionally well with US Netflix, consistently delivers fast speeds, and has highly responsive live chat customer support that is always available for the users and prospective customers.
However, Namecheap’s FastVPN is headquartered in the United States, which is a significant part of the 5 Eyes Alliance. We also found its logging policy pretty shady and unclear. Moreover, it only offers 1000+ servers in 50+ locations. Therefore, it couldn’t be a part of our best VPN services list. You will find Namecheap VPN Review in Germany below.

Pricing – Namecheap VPN Review in Germany
Namecheap VPN/FastVPN lives up to its name to the full extent: It is EXTREMELY cheap. Here are the Namecheap VPN’s prices and plans it offers:
This price easily makes it one of the cheapest VPNs in the industry! There is a catch, however. The 1-year plan renews at $34.56, so if you want to renew your subscription after the first year, it will cost you more, but it’s still significantly cheaper than the competition out there.
Moreover, if you wish to continue the monthly subscription subsequently, it will cost $5.88/mo. This is great if you want to check the VPN out on a trial basis for the first month, but the long-term plans offer value for money if you wish to continue using it.
The service also offers a generous 30-day money-back guarantee you can use to get your refund within a month after the subscription.
Moreover, it supports multiple payment methods including credit/debit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Amex, and Discover), as well as PayPal. You can also use your Namecheap account funds to pay for your subscription. You can top up your account using your credit card, PayPal account, or multiple cryptocurrencies.
All in all, Namecheap VPN has an extremely appealing pricing structure. You can also take a look at our list of VPNs with slashed prices with up to 3 months of free usage.
Namecheap VPN offers 1,000+ servers in 50+ locations. However, the service does not specify if all the servers it offers are physical and if there are any virtual servers in Germany in its network.
These Namecheap VPN locations are present in:
The server list available in each app provides details about every server’s ping and load. We tested its pings ourselves and discovered that the data being offered was accurate. You can also add servers to your favorites list by clicking on the star in front of the server location. Moreover, if you click on the ‘Best Available’ option, you can connect to a server that’s closest to your original location.
With Namecheap VPN, you get robust encryption and an impressive set of protocols. Just like most premium VPNs, the provider uses practically unhackable AES-256-bit encryption. Moreover, it also offers a fine set of protocols IKEv2 and OpenVPN (TCP/UDP). On OpenVPN, FastVPN further offers a scrambling feature that works as an obfuscation layer.
It’s awe-inspiring for a VPN that costs so little to offer powerful features like Scramble. If you find yourself in countries with strict anti-VPN policies, you might be able to get your VPN to work with Namecheap’s scramble option.
Moreover, you can manually configure the VPN on your device by setting up an SSTP or PPTP connection that’s only available on Windows. However, we wouldn’t recommend doing so since SSTP is useful for bypassing tough firewalls and PPTP isn’t very secure.
The service offers an exclusive Kill Switch feature that helps you keep your identity safe if your VPN suddenly stops working for any reason. But sadly, it’s only available on Windows, which makes torrenting riskier with unexpected network breakdowns.
Moreover, thanks to Namecheap’s secure DNS, FastVPN keeps your IP and DNS addresses absolutely secure. We conducted multiple IP and DNS leaks using its servers, and it turned out that the VPN is leakproof. This ensured that your IP/DNS would remain absolutely protected.
Does Namecheap VPN keep logs?
No, Namecheap VPN does not keep the logs of its users’ private information as it states on its official website. However, it does mention that “connection” and bandwidth data are stored, so that is a little vague because connection logs could mean anything from IP addresses to DNS queries.
While reviewing its no-logs policy, we did find some things to be concerned about that seemed like logging. As per its policy, while it doesn’t directly log any data, it creates VPN-specific user IDs under which it collects some identifiable information like IP address, name, billing information, email ID, and phone number.
Moreover, it further logs connection attempts. Within its apps, there’s a feature offered called ‘Log Details.’ If you enable this feature, your data will be used for troubleshooting, meaning it will be accessible by the VPN provider.
Per our Namecheap FastVPN review, we found the privacy options of this VPN pretty shady. Even though it says that the logged data is kept anonymous, the fact that it forms user IDs is a red flag.
Namecheap VPN is swift. We weren’t expecting this VPN to work fast at all, but we were amazed at how it actually performed. To measure the speed, we used a 100 Mbps base internet connection and implemented the speedtest.net tool.
We got great results on its local US servers. According to our tests, we were able to stream in High Definition without any lags. However, we faced a significant speed drop using its long-distance servers. Our pings were low on the local servers as well.
First, we tested our speeds without connecting to a VPN. On 100 Mbps, we were facing a drop of only 6% then. However, as soon as we connected to FastVPN’s US server, our speeds dropped by 35%. You can compare the speeds of the local servers in the table below:
|Without VPN||With VPN|
After that, we decided to test the Namecheap VPN server list that’s distant from our location. As per our speed test, our download speed on its UK server dropped to 41.94 Mbps. This was a 59% decrease on our 100 Mbps base connection. We then decided to test another server in Australia. This time, we got a download speed of 37.84 Mbps with high pings.
|Without VPN||With VPN|
To show you a summary of the speeds we got, we have created a table. Check out the speeds of multiple servers below:
|Locations||Download Speeds||Upload Speeds||Pings|
|Current location (US)||94.66 Mbps||87.47 Mbps||115 ms|
|Local US server||65.71 Mbps||26.01 Mbps||274 ms|
|Australia||37.84 Mbps||19.82 Mbps||172 ms|
|UK||41.94 Mbps||22.83 Mbps||290 ms|
Evaluating these results, we concluded that FastVPN cannot be recommended for its speeds. Although the performance we encountered on local servers was good, we faced a significant decrease on its distant servers.
FastVPN could unblock most streaming platforms we tested. Using the VPN, we were able to access multiple Netflix and HBO Max libraries. However, we were unable to watch in 4K with most of its servers.
In our initial tests, we were able to unblock Amazon Prime, Netflix, and HBO Max using FastVPN’s US servers. They offered us excellent HD picture quality without any lag.
Moreover, when tested its UK servers, BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub worked effortlessly on all, but we could only stream Netflix using its London server.
When it came to Disney+ and Hulu, they couldn’t be unblocked by FastVPN. Hulu instantly detected VPN usage and wouldn’t even sign in. Whereas, Disney+ refused to load; we faced its geo-restriction error until we were connected to FastVPN’s servers. The streaming platform identified that we weren’t present in the US even after we deleted our browser cache and history.
Overall, we were pleasantly impressed by FastVPN’s unblocking skills. However, we advise you to check out the best Disney+ and Hulu VPNs in Germany to unblock their content.
Torrenting – Namecheap VPN Review in Germany
If heading into digital waters with copyrighted material is something that interests you, it’s essential to seek out more secure and anonymous VPNs in Germany, which will provide full protection against cyber threats while keeping your identity secure. However, downloading illegal content should always be avoided if you wish to remain within legal boundaries!
Still, if we talk about its torrenting performance, we would say its speeds were woefully inadequate for downloading bulky files. On our 100 Mbps connection, we barely got a download speed of 0.2 kB/s. It’s clearly not the best solution if you’re looking for something speedy and reliable. This is why you should opt for the best torrenting VPNs instead.
Compatibility with Operating Systems & Devices in Germany
While it may not be an excellent option for premium VPN performance, we love that it supports many devices and operating systems.
FastVPN makes staying secure and anonymous on the internet easy – no matter what device you use! You can download their native apps for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS & Linux devices or manually configure them onto your Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, gaming consoles like PS4/XboxOne, or even Chrome OS. All in one convenient package so that your online activities are protected everywhere.
FastVPN is an excellent option for anyone seeking compatibility on multiple devices. Windows users can even take advantage of the extra safety provided by its kill switch feature, while all clients have access to convenience features like “open on startup” or “auto-connect.”
With an array of simple toggle options as well, everyone will be able to customize their privacy settings just how they want them – the only thing missing from this package is a browser extension.
Installation of Apps and Ease of Use in Germany
Navigating FastVPN’s website was more frustrating than a night of playing “Where’s Waldo.” After selecting our subscription plan and making the payment, we couldn’t find anywhere to get the actual VPN download.
It seems like NameCheap tried too hard to stuff its other services in there. To make matters worse, when searching for ‘VPN’ initially – you were brought into a different area where it seemed quite advanced! Thankfully, after some persistence we eventually made it through this maze – though still wish they would make their Download button more obvious from start to finish next time.
That said, as far as the actual user experience is concerned, it is Good.
The Windows app makes connecting to a server as smooth and accessible as possible. Utilizing a left-hand side menu to display the options and button for connection, users can quickly scroll through an extensive list of servers with all their relevant information (ping times, load levels).
To ensure you’re getting your money’s worth in speed rather than location, each place has its own dropdown menu revealing cities alongside ping/load info, so you know what you’re picking!
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even more data displayed within one neat window – speeds & protocols along with IP address at no extra charge. The only downside? That same window takes up most of the screen space but hey… what other VPN apps have this much detail available like clockwork?
Overall, the FastVPN apps should be simple to use even if you are new to VPNs after you get through the download stage. Even the Namecheap VPN Reddit reviews say the same!
Bypassing Censorship – Does Namecheap VPN Work in China?
Unfortunately, Namecheap VPN doesn’t work in China and cannot bypass the Great Firewall. Moreover, it doesn’t offer any servers in the country as well. That’s because it takes the most advanced features and solid encryption to use a VPN in the Chinese region. Moreover, the case is the same with other restrictive countries. Namecheap doesn’t work in countries like Turkey and Russia too.
Customer Support in Germany
On the support front, the provider has ticked all the required boxes in the right way. That’s because it offers 24/7 live chat support along with an extensive knowledge base, including blogs, guru guides, and how-to tutorials. This knowledge base available on its official site offers guides for manually configuring the VPN and setting up multiple protocols.
In case you’re unable to find a solution to your issue, you can always submit a ticket to the appropriate department. We got a response in 1 minute when we contacted their live chat support, though the customer support representative probably misunderstood our question and wasn’t a big help.

Namecheap VPN Review in Germany Summary
We do recommend Namecheap VPN. If you’ve been reading this Namecheap FastVPN review up till now, you’ve probably seen that the VPN is extremely cheap, unblocks US Netflix efficiently, boasts outstanding speeds, has an impressive network of 1000+ servers, unlimited simultaneous connection, and good customer support.
However, its logging policy – though not bad by any means – is a little bit vaguely written and doesn’t specify which user-related data they store and which data they don’t store. Its US-based jurisdiction doesn’t add anything to its favor either.
Furthermore, the provider should add command-line-based apps for Linux. Currently, it only supports Linux through manual OpenVPN configuration, which is generally a cumbersome process.
