VPN Master Review 2019
VPN Master is a US-based VPN service available at relatively expensive $3.95/mo price. It offers a few servers that do not support Netflix & other services. The provider has received 2.5 stars rating.
VPN Master is a US-based VPN service striving hard to make a mark in the VPN industry. The service is catering the online privacy needs of its subscribers through 14 servers located in various countries worldwide.
I cannot suggest this US-based VPN service because it does not have a huge server spread like NordVPN.
Moreover, its pricing strategy is on the higher side as compared to other affordable VPNs like Surfshark.
If you still want to use the service, you will have to pay $7.95, $5.95 and $3.95 to avail its monthly, quarterly and yearly pricing plans.

My Rating Criteria
During this VPN Master review, I tested the service as per my own devised rating criteria described below:
- Pricing – How much does VPN Master cost?
- Security – Protocols & Encryption
- Jurisdiction – Is VPN Master Safe?
- Speed – Is VPN Master fast?
- Streaming – Netflix & Other Streaming Services
- Leaks – IP, DNS & WebRTC Leak Tests
- Trustworthiness – Logging Policy & Customer Support
- Compatibility – Supports Different Platforms & Devices
Pricing – How much does VPN Master cost?
VPN Master has relatively an expensive pricing strategy for their users.
It offers three types of pricing plans to its subscribers. These pricing plans include monthly plan that you can avail at the cost of $7.95 on monthly basis.
Likewise, the other pricing plans are three (3) monthly plan and yearly plan respectively. Both these plans are available at the prices of $ 5.95 and $3.95.
As is the case with most VPN providers, the yearly plan comes with a significant discount. The one month and three-month plan costs more in the longer run but even these plans are somewhat budget-friendly.

You can pay VPN Master with PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover credit cards.
Suffice to say, the payment options here are rather limited.
The service needs to add an anonymous paying method, preferably Bitcoin due to its widespread popularity among the VPN users.
VPN Master also offers a refund policy for the subscribers. However, you will have to send an email to the provider if you want to discontinue the services within 24 hours. The provider must increase the timeframe for the refund.
Sometimes, it becomes difficult for the users to check the whole services of the provider in a day. If you still want to purchase any pricing plan, purchase it at your own risk. Since you will have only 24 hours to report any issue otherwise you will not get your refund.
Security – Protocols & Encryption
On security front, the service has not met the privacy requirements efficiently.
VPN Master’s website does not clearly mention which tunneling protocol it currently uses. So ultimately, I had to contact the provider’s customer support to inquire about this matter.
Apparently, this VPN supports L2TP and PPTP protocols only. This is not good news at all.
VPN Master only advertises PPTP servers and unfortunately PPTP is an obsolete technology. The said protocol was one of the oldest protocols that had its own drawback.
On the other hand, L2TP is not as capable as the widely used OpenVPN protocol. Therefore, the providers should consider adding OpenVPN to the mix.
OpenVPN is a top-notch tunneling protocol, which supports AES 256-bit military-grade encryption. The same encryption level that is used by NSA to secure confidential information.
With no OpenVPN at its disposal, VPN Master is reduced to AES-128 bit encryption, the weaker member of the AES family.
Overall, when it comes to protocol and encryption options, this VPN has nothing to boast about.
Jurisdiction – Is VPN Master safe?
VPN Master is a US-based VPN service and it is really a worrying sign from privacy point of view. It means the service belongs to five eyes countries.
As a result, the provider has to follow certain mandatory data retention rules.
The provider is currently offering in different countries worldwide through 14 server locations. These 14 server locations include:
- United States
- United Kingdom
While this is not a big server list by any stretch of the imagination, the VPN has done a good job of covering important regions. Still, I would like to see more servers from Central Asia and from the Middle East.
Speed – Is VPN Master fast?
The provider offered average connection speed while tested on US server.
I performed speed test while using a 30 Mbps internet connection:
However, I noticed a considerable drop in terms of speed when I connected to its US server.
Based on the above result, I can safely say that VPN Master delivers average connection speeds.
Streaming – Netflix & Other Streaming Services
VPN Master does not bode well with the concept of streaming overall.
Unfortunately, VPN Master does not allow users to access US Netflix media content library. Similarly, you may face problems while unblocking geo-locked streaming services like Hulu and BBC iPlayer.
In addition, you cannot unblock geo-restricted content on a famous video streaming player such as Kodi. Hence, you must connect to a best Kodi VPN add-on service to watch your favorite stuff securely.
Leaks – IP, DNS & WebRTC Leak Tests
There is no denying, VPN Master is a leak-free service.
I tested its IP leak feature through IPleak.org and found the following satisfactory result:
Similarly, I checked its DNS leak protection benefit with the help of DNSleaktest.com:
Luckily, it did not reveal my actual DNS data.
Lastly, I tested its WebRTC leak security advantage through 1p8.com and received the following expected outcome:
Trustworthiness – Logging Policy & Customer Support
Surprisingly, this US-based VPN service keeps some logs and uses the information for various purposes.
Of course, this VPN Master review would be incomplete without evaluating the logging policy of this provider.
Many VPNs keep logs for one reason or the other. What matters is that no VPN should keep activity logs of the users.
Thankfully, VPN Master keeps zero activity logs. They do store a little bit of personal information.

- To further enhance the users’ experiences
- To improve the performance of our website
- To send periodic emails
The service has a dedicated and most informative customer support section for the users. The customer section includes sub-sections like My Support Tickets, Announcements, Knowledgebase, and Downloads.
There are sections such as Network Status and Open Ticket included in the customer support of the provider. The sub-section of Contact Us is also included in this main section.
My Support Tickets
Users can check the My Support Tickets page to find out the status of their support tickets. You will have to use this feature if you wish to ask any query from customer support representative.
This is an innovative way of sending email since you cannot send an email directly to the customer support department. You need to mention your email address along with the password.
The announcements page keep customers inform with press releases, latest news and happenings of the service. Sadly, the page looks completely outdated. Furthermore, it also lacks the latest news and information about the provider.
Without a doubt, this page in need of urgent updates.
The knowledgebase section of the service specifically covers categories like Billing, How to Setup VPN and Troubleshooting.
All these categories will provide information regarding account activation and monthly payment issues.
Likewise, How to setup VPN offers awareness to the subscriber through providing tutorials and setup guides. The Troubleshooting category mainly caters VPN connection issues.
Sadly, you will not find any relevant information in the sub-section of downloads. I was hoping that this area would be filled with lots of information about various setups and installation processes. However, the section looks completely outdated and this discrepancy does not improve the brand’s reputation at all.
Compatibility – Supports Different Platforms & Devices
While researching for this VPN Master review, I discovered that this VPN is compatible with a number of platforms.
These platforms are Windows, Mac, Linux, and DD-WRT routers. You can even use this VPN on Android and iOS devices.
Searching the provider’s website for dedicated apps of this service, I discovered no such apps, unfortunately.
The VPN Master download section on the provider’s website is completely empty and there is nothing else to suggest that this VPN has apps of its own.
Upon contacting the customer support, I learned that this VPN can only be used via manual configuration. This is a massive downside to this service.
Many users hate the entire configuration process and prefer dedicated applications instead.
But on the bright side, the provider has step-by-step guides on its website to help you configure the VPN on different devices.

Do I Recommend VPN Master?
No, I don’t recommend VPN Master.
You might have read different VPN master reviews in which the reviewers might have suggested the service.
Sadly this is not the case in this VPN Master review. This is because you have only 24 hours to claim the refund. After 24 hours, no refunds will be given to the users. For these reasons, readers should avoid this VPN.
VPN Master has a lot to do on immediate basis in order to gain the trust of the subscribers. Since the service mainly operates from the US, the users’ information remains vulnerable to privacy intrusions.
I would like to give the service 2.5/5.0 stars based on the above-detailed analysis.
