My Rating Criteria

Here you will find a list of factors that I will be performing TorGuard review:

Pricing – How much does TorGuard cost?

There are four different package plans offered by TorGuard: Anonymous Proxy, Anonymous VPN, Anonymous Email and Privacy Bundle. Each package plan has to offer distinct set of benefits and features to meet different users’ needs.

Security – Encryption & features

Tunneling protocols supported by a VPN and encryption provided are key concerned area for those who are cautious about their security. Using sophisticated tunneling protocols, a VPN forms a secure network to carry to requests and data. The security of this network is maximized via encryption support.

Encryption serves as a backup plan when it comes to network security. When your entire data is encrypted, it doesn’t matter even if the hacker penetrates through the security protocols and accesses your information.

The tunneling protocols supported by TorGuard are OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, IKEV2, and SSTP. Moreover, the service offers Socks5 and http proxies to its users. In addition, with the help of these tunneling protocols, TorGuard promises to keep your confidentiality intact.

There are different encryption levels offered by TorGuard, starting from AES 128-bit up to AES 256-bit encryption ciphers. These sophisticated security measures of the service will make you invulnerable to unauthorized assault.

Our TorGuard review for protocol finds this service to have adequate protocols and encryption features to secure your connection. Besides, the service also offers dedicated IP feature in 45 different countries worldwide.

Jurisdiction –Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

TorGuard is based in the US which falls under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, and 14 eyes country. The authorities will know what you are browsing online.

Their authorities also have the power to issue subpoena for users’ information as well.

Servers

You should explore the availability of servers along with the count, as it is an important aspect before subscribing to a VPN service. Server availability in a particular geographic region gives VPN users an access to the content restricted to that area only. If you wish to access Netflix outside the US, you will have to connect to the US server via a VPN to gain unrestricted access.

As mentioned in this TorGuard review, the VPN has servers geographically scattered in more than 50 countries. With TorGuard’s Anonymous VPN package plan, you get access to 2000+ VPN servers. Using TorGuard’s smartly installed servers in different locations, you can easily bypass all geo-restrictions and cope with severe censorship issues.

Servers-List-of-TorGuard

TorGuard’s VPN servers will not only help you evade geo-restrictions but also hide your identity from the world. When you connect to a distant server, you real IP is masked with a random IP representing that particular location. This serves as your digital camouflage and your identity is concealed from hackers, identity thieves, vigilant agencies and other unknown threats.

Speed – How fast is TorGuard VPN?

The speed of TorGuard is too slow. I tested its speed using its Canadian server.

My internet speed before I connected to their service was 29 Mbps. But as I connected to TorGuard server, my speed declined to 11.87 Mbps.

Here is the result of the speed test:

Streaming –Does it work with Netflix?

No, it does not work with US Netflix. It doesn’t boast that it works on Netflix as well so I was kind of prepared that it won’t work.

Netflix restrictions have becomes tremendously strong in detecting a VPN. I found in our TorGuard review that there’s limited chance of bypassing its surveillance system.

TorGuard is a renowned VPN and proxy service for torrents and P2P. It offers servers designated for the use of torrents.

We tested the service for torrenting and found no IP leakage, strong security and good overall performance.

With OpenVPN protocol and AES 256 bit encryption algorithm activated, your ISP won’t be able to monitor your internet activities. Likewise, TorGuard will hide your true identity in torrent swarms, keeping you safe from copyright sharks.

In case you find issues while using TorGuard with Kodi, you can opt for a VPN with Kodi service to continue watching your favorite media content from anywhere securely.

Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

TorGuard managed to pass all the leak test. I used the same Canada server to check for any leaks.

Here are the test results:

Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support

TorGuard does not keep usage logs nor does it collect collection logs. The only information they collect are the following:

  • Email address
  • Payment information
  • Contact details
  • Temporary cookies

That’s it, there’s no other information collected by this VPN service.

Customer Support

TorGuard offers 24/7 customer support, because not every one of us is tech-savvy. VPN is a sophisticated technology. It usually runs smoothly on your device, but sometimes you may encounter some technical glitches or compatibility issues. These issues might be difficult for you to resolve but customer support personnel can get it done in minutes.

If you are a new user, you might need help with VPN software installation as well. In addition, there are devices that are not compatible with software and you need to configure a VPN manually on them. The customer support will always be there to assist you in any regard.

TorGuard offers prompt customer and tech support. TorGuard’s live support is operational during their working hours. However, you can always contact them via email and your concern will be promptly resolved.

Contacting customer support via email is not hard. All you need to do is enter your name, email, subject and your concern. TorGuard customer support is prompt and quite equipped in resolving sophisticated concerns. Thus, your issue shall be resolved in no time.

Compatibility – Apps and supported devices

Device compatibility is another aspect to look forward when buying a VPN. Your security is flawed when only a single device used by you is protected by a VPN whereas the rest remain vulnerable to unauthorized assault.

This is an era of technology. Each individual uses at least 2-3 devices in his routine. Considering the PC as a requirement to execute everyday tasks and the rise of Smart technology, you need a VPN that runs on multiple devices. Thus, device compatibility comes to play while buying a VPN.

Luckily, TorGuard is one of a few service providers in VPN industry that are compatible with different devices and operating systems. The service is compatible with all leading versions of Windows and it runs smoothly on Ubuntu and Mac OSX.

Not only this, TorGuard is also compatible with Android and iOS supported Smart devices. You can also run the service on other devices such as DD-WRT Routers and BoxeeBox as well. In short, you can avail all benefits of the service via any device you may prefer.

TorGuard Comparison with PureVPN

I compared TorGuard with PureVPN and judged their performance and features. Have a look at them:

Alternatives to TorGuard

TorGuard’s services are extensive enough to satisfy the needs of most digital privacy enthusiasts. However, if you are still looking for more, you can look up some other VPNs we have reviewed.

Final Verdict

No, I do not recommend using TorGuard.

There are plenty of reasons why I believe TorGuard will not be a good option my readers.

TorGuard has wide range of package plans but they aren’t cheap and doesn’t unblock Netflix too.

It speed isn’t good as well and it surely doesn’t unblock other streaming services as well.
