Buffered VPN was founded in 2013 but now it has joined forces with a NetProtect brand Encrypt.me.

Buffered VPN truly deserves a spot in the top 5 VPNs in speed test as claimed on their website and its servers are really fast even the longest-distance one.

It is the best VPN when it comes to streaming and unblocking US Netflix or even when surfing the web online with complete anonymity.

Buffered VPN’s server network is present in 37 countries and its encryption is the strongest i.e. AES 256-bit and covers all protocols.

The price is justified by the kind of good service it offers. But there’s always a brand ExpressVPN or Surfshark that manages to stay ahead with the price they offer.

In this Buffered VPN review, read if this VPN is any good.

Buffered VPN Review – Rating Criteria

The list you see below is the basis on which I performed the review. Have a look at them:

Pricing – How much does Buffered VPN cost?

The price for the Buffered VPN isn’t high nor it is cheap, but it is perfectly placed between the two. Have a look at the 3 pricing plans offered by this service:

Buffered-VPN-pricing-plans

Undoubtedly, its 2-year plan is the most likable where you save almost 68%.

But still, it isn’t as affordable as Surfshark despite the many features it offers.

Payment Methods

Buffered VPN offers a lot of payment methods to pay for their subscription. Here is a list:

  • Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diner’s Club)
  • PayPal
  • Bitcoin

All subscribers get a 30-day money-back guarantee to test the service which is fantastic. Money-back guarantees and VPN free trials are perfect for trying VPNs out!

Refund Policy

You can claim a refund within 30 days only if you have used less than 100 sessions, 10 GB bandwidth or 10 hours of the session.

Buffered VPN allows you to claim a 100% money-back guarantee if you meet their criteria as discussed above.

Moreover, if you’re looking for a better VPN at lower rates, check out our specially curated list of best VPN deals of 2022 right now.

Security – Is Buffered VPN safe?

Buffered VPN is safe to use because it delivers strong encryption in the industry i.e. AES 256-bit. It offers different protocols such as PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, and OpenVPN protocols.

It is also commendable that the providers have included RSA 2048 handshake and SHA1 for HMAC authentication.

We would recommend all users use the OpenVPN protocol as it’s the strongest of all the protocols. But if you are using the service for streaming, then PPTP should suffice.

Buffered VPN Kill Switch

With Android, macOS, and Windows clients of the service, you get a built-in Kill Switch. This feature prevents your data from being leaked to your local ISP or the website you are visiting if by any means your VPN gets disconnected.

Buffered VPN Port Discovery Mode

The port discovery mode allows you to scan for WiFi networks with open ports.

Through this feature, you can connect to public WiFi without needing a password. For using this feature, users have to click the “Test Firewall” option on “Settings”.

Jurisdiction – Where is Buffered VPN located?

Buffered VPN is based in Gibraltar, a country that does not fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, or 14 eyes country.

It is a safe country in terms of data retention laws. Meaning, it doesn’t authorize companies to store users’ information.

Jurisdiction is the first building block for your online privacy and Buffered VPN has passed this test.

Server Network

Buffered VPN currently is available in 37 countries worldwide. It doesn’t specify the number of servers for each country but still, it is a big number.

It is easier to unblock foreign news, local TV shows, and sports from that particular country once you are connected to their server.

It doesn’t have a server in China though. China has the toughest internet restrictions in the world. This requires the use of obfuscated servers, which Buffered VPN lacks.

Speed – How fast is Buffered VPN?

Buffered VPN is really fast and it certainly proves the bold claims made by their website that ‘it is always among the top 5 VPNs in speed tests.

To test its speed, I connected Buffered VPN to a higher distance server i.e. London in this Buffered VPN review.

My internet speed without internet was about 30 Mbps (rounded off). The internet speed while connected to Buffered VPN was an extraordinary 24.33 Mbps. That’s a lot!

Here is the screenshot for the speed test:

Streaming – Does Buffered VPN work with Netflix?

Buffered VPN easily unblocks US Netflix and all the libraries (Movies & TV Shows) that come with it.

It is a rare feat for any VPN service provider after knowing that there is an extreme restriction placed by Netflix on VPNs.

I was able to unblock US Netflix with only 2 US servers and that was an achievement in itself.

Torrenting and Kodi

Buffered VPN has P2P optimized servers that completely hide your IP while torrenting.

It only uses shared IPs so there is no way your online privacy will be identified let alone compromised on a network. It also works best with Kodi where you can stream Live TV channels without the problem of geo-restrictions.

You can access Kodi with some other VPNs that offer fast speed. Here is our list of the best VPN Kodi.

Leaks – Does Buffered VPN leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

Buffered VPN passed all the leak tests i.e. IP leak, DNS leak, and even the WebRTC test.

I connected Buffered VPN to UK (London) server. Here are the results for each test:

Trustworthiness – Logs and Customer Support

Buffered VPN does NOT store usage logs, but it certainly does keep connection logs.

Here is a list of information they obtain from users:

  • Name
  • Email Address
  • Mailing Address
  • Financial/Credit Card Information
  • IP Address (Critical)
  • Browser Type and Version
  • Login Information of VPN
  • Time Zone Settings

Buffered VPN knows your original IP address, but that’s not even a shocking thing. Let’s read from their privacy statement what they have to say about ‘how they use your personal information:

We will disclose your personal information to third parties in case:

  • If we sell or buy any business or assets
  • If Buffered VPN is acquired by a third party
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation”

This means, if the authorities ask Buffered VPN to share users’ data then they are obliged to do that. It doesn’t get any worse than that.

Buffered VPN Reddit Review

Here are the recent Buffered VPN review Reddit:

Buffered-VPN-reddit-review

This user is complaining about the refund policy and saying that Buffered VPN lies about a 30-day money-back guarantee. In fact, they did not return their money even after 3 days.

If you read their refund policy, as I have clearly stated in this review, you will know that the money-back has some clause.

The user must have used:

  • less than 100 sessions
  • 10 GB bandwidth
  • 10 hours of session

If your usage falls under either of these clauses, then you’re not going to get your money.

Customer Support

Buffered VPN has good customer support and the response time is a few minutes. But still, there is no live chat support.

The only way you can get in contact with their support staff is by creating a ticket. It requires users to fill out a form (name, email, and message).

You can also contact them through Facebook or Twitter.

Compatibility – Apps and Supported Devices

In our Buffered VPN review, the VPN is compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and routers.

It also supports DD-WRT routers and Tomato routers as well. If you want to use the service on other devices then you will have to set up the service manually.

Buffered VPN Android

The buffered VPN app is now available on the Google Play store for users who wish to use the service on their Android devices.

Using the app is a pleasant experience. The interface of the app compromises a list of servers and all you have to do is to hit the connect button.

This app does not confuse you with a glut of options. When you are connected to the service, the screen tells you about the bandwidth used on both download and upload.

It also informs you about the real-time download and upload speeds.

Also, you can read our exclusive guide on the best VPN for Android to uncover more popular VPNs for Android phones.

Buffered VPN Mac OSX

Buffered VPN offers an excellent in-house client for Mac OSX. The app features a sleek and simple layout comprising all handy options.

The subscriber can scroll through a list of servers and connect or disconnect through a one-touch option.

In addition, subscribers can take help from detailed instructions about Mac VPN installation available in the support section of the app.

Following is a screenshot of the Mac OSX client.

Buffered VPN Windows Client

For our Buffered VPN review, we put their Windows client to the test. The overall design of the client is very slick and it is very easy to use.

All the options are right where you want them to be and right from the login, we were able to connect to our desired server and use the internet safely and securely.

You can download the client after signup from the provider’s website.

Do I Recommend Buffered VPN?

Yes. I recommend Buffered VPN. This Buffered VPN review explored various hidden attributes of the service. It is a good VPN when it comes to fast speed, unblocking US Netflix, and doesn’t even leak IP.

It has all the necessary tunneling protocols with the highest 256-bit encryption that keeps your online identity secure. It is also based outside of 14 eyes countries, so that’s a bonus.

Overall, it is truly the best choice for users to get this VPN.
