Top 5 2014 MMO Games You Wish You Could Enjoy

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Tired of your run of the mill single player games? Say hello to some of the best games of the 21st century! These are unbelievably amazing games that you can play with people from across the world.

Massively multiplayer online (MMO) games are multiplayer games in which every match offers a unique experience. The players are not computer controlled so there is no predictability so the game changes every time.

I embedded YouTube videos in this article to give you a preview of what I’m talking about. If any of these don’t work for you, here is how you can unblock YouTube. Also, if you know of any MMO games that you think should be added to this list then tell us about them and we’ll add them here.

World War II Online

World War II Online is one of the most amazing MMO games you have ever played.

Commonly called World War II Online: Battleground Europe, this MMO first person shooter is your chance to relive all the action of the Second World War with others who share your passion for the thrill of battle.

World War II Online first came out in 2001 and has experienced a significant bit of development in the last decade. The game places you in the war and allows you to pick a side. You can be either German, US, British or French. Changing sides is also allowed.

The best part is that World War II Online is so realistic that you don’t have to be a rifleman running on the ground if you don’t want to be. You can fly a plane, or command a ship, or handle the anti-aircraft guns, or be part of a tank-crew. The possibilities are unlimited!

The developers keep expanding the game with new cities, structures and equipment all the time. There are no computer controlled players which means that every single player has a purpose in the game. If you ever played Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Counter Strike, then you will love World War II Online!

Second Life

Not in the mood to shoot bullets? Try Second Life.

This MMO is not just a game, it is a virtual world in which you can do just about everything that you can do in real life. Like all good MMO games, Second Life has minimal to no computer controlled elements. Everything is run/controlled by humans, which makes Second Life the experience of a life time.

If you have ever played Sims (or any version of Sims), then believe me when I say that Second Life is a major improvement on everything that Sims had to offer. It has much better designed and well developed social systems. And the best part is that you are completely free to do absolutely anything that you want to do.

Second Life is so good that people have been known to have become addicted to the game. People actually love their Second Life experience so much that they begin to cut off from the real world when they see their dreams coming true in Second Life.

The game doesn’t cost anything and the in-game currency is also given out in the form of a weekly stipend so you don’t really need to pay up unless you have some major plans. Also, you don’t necessarily have to get hooked to the game. Use Second Life as a no-cost vacation.

Minecraft

Sick of all the stress that comes with first person and role playing MMO games? Try Minecraft!

Minecraft will allow you to set your mind free. It is a massive game much like others but the only one of its kind. It is a sandbox game in which you can do anything you want and the central system of the game makes sure that things never get too complicated.

Unlike other MMO games, you don’t have to move around and socialize with people. You can even play it on single-player mode and build your little empire as if it was your personal little hobby project.

Open-World Fantasy MMO Games

World of War Craft, League of Legends, Defense of the Ancients, The Elder Scrolls

These are four of the top MMO games that are based on open-world fantasy concepts. All four of these games have gained a very strong cult following in the last few years and I simply couldn’t leave them out. But I couldn’t dedicate my entire round-up to just them either, so I placed them under one category.

All four MMOs are high-end games that are demanding on your system and on your internet connection so make sure you equip yourself adequately before you dive into any one of them.

World of War Craft, League of Legends, Defense of the Ancients and The Elder Scrolls are four games that you simply have to play. You cannot call yourself an MMO player if you haven’t played at least one of these four games!

Phantasy Star Online 2

Phantasy Star Online 2 is one of the most promising new comers in the MMO game world. It has been made by Sega so you can be sure that it has some pretty cool elements that you will love!

The game is currently in high demand across the world and Sega is slowly rolling it out. If you love Japanese games or ever fancied the unique style that is a defining characteristic of Japanese games then you will love Phantasy Star Online 2.

How can I fix my MMO Lagging and Buffering?

An MMO game is the best kind of multi-player game! It places you in direct control of your actions while allowing you to become part of something bigger. But MMO games require a bit of tuning to run perfectly. You might find that your MMO games stick/lag when you try to play them.

Your MMO game might stutter/lag when you try to run it. That is because you are not playing alone. In order to reduce this lag, you will have to take certain steps designed to help you fine-tune your MMO speed.
