Unblock VPN in the Czech Republic online privacy service working for almost a decade. The provider’s prime objective is to secure the online privacy and freedom of netizens from all over the world.
During this Unblock VPN review, I explored that its Windows app could transfer the malicious virus to your devices. Likewise, it does not have an impressive server count like ExpressVPN or NordVPN.
It does not unblock US Netflix as well but is helpful for torrenting purposes. Therefore, I do not recommend the service to privacy seekers across the globe.
Unblock VPN Review – My Rating Criteria
I have analyzed Unblock VPN through my 8-step rating criteria which consisting of the following:
- Pricing – How much is Unblock VPN?
- Security – Protocols & Encryption
- Jurisdiction – Where is Unblock VPN located?
- Speed – Highly Impressive
- Streaming – Does it Support Netflix or Torrenting?
- Leaks – IP, DNS, WebRTC & Virus Tests
- Trustworthiness – Logging Policy & Customer Support
- Compatibility – Supports all major platforms
Pricing – How much is Unblock VPN?
This VPN only offers two types of pricing plans that are comparatively higher as well. These are:
A dedicated IP address is quite expensive compared to shared IP, but it’s worth buying due to the online privacy perspective. If you want to buy it at an affordable price, check out the guide on best dedicated IP VPN .
The VPN offers an attractive list of online payment methods to users. The subscribers can pay their dues or packages’ pricing from anywhere accordingly through these different payment modes.
However, I hope the service will add Bitcoin as an online payment method option soon.
Here is the list of online payment methods that consists of:
- Credit card
- PayPal
- Ukash
- Bank
- Skrill
Unblock VPN’s money-back policy lasts up to three days. This gives you a short span of time to test out the service.
Last but not least, you can avail of its free trial that allows you to examine the service’s performance for three (3) days.
Security – Protocols & Encryption
Unblock VPN has three protocols in its arsenal: PPTP, SSTP, and L2TP but surprisingly does not have an OpenVPN.
There is no denying industry-standard tunneling protocol right now is OpenVPN, which is much more capable than its alternatives.
OpenVPN’s open-source nature and the fact that it supports military-grade encryption make it the best available option. So without the most advanced protocol, this VPN failed to impress me with its security features in this review.
Jurisdiction – Where is Unblock VPN located?
Unblock VPN belongs to safe jurisdiction, i.e., the Czech Republic. The country does not have any association with 5 eyes, 9 eyes, or 14 eyes countries, a big plus from users’ privacy perspectives.
Servers Network
Unblock VPN’s servers only extend to about eight countries:
- US
- UK
- Germany
- Netherlands
- Sweden
- Czech Republic
- Israel
- Slovakia
At present, users can connect to 20 servers available in 8 different countries worldwide.
Speed – Highly Impressive
Unblock VPN usually delivers impressive connection speeds. When I connected to its Swedish server using my 20 Mbps internet connection, I obtained the following speed:
As you can see, there is a downward spike of 20% in speed almost.
Streaming – Does it support Netflix or Torrenting?
Unblock VPN does not claim to unblock Netflix. Instead, it mentions unblocking Hulu and BBC iPlayer in restricted territories.
If you want to access US Netflix, you will have to rely on other VPNs. As far as torrenting goes, Unblock VPN takes the following approach:
It allows torrenting via the Sweden server but forbids sharing copyrighted content.
Fair enough.
Leaks – IP, DNS, WebRTC & Virus Tests
Unblock VPN may affect your privacy a great deal because its Windows app can inject malicious malware into your devices. Other than this, the app does not expose users’ original IP addresses, WebRTC, or DNS data.
IP Leak:
While connected to its Sweden server, Unblock VPN did not leak our real IP address.
DNS Leak:
We also ran DNS leak tests, and there were no leaks as it showed is the data regarding the VPN server we connected to while testing.
WebRTC Leak:
Unblock VPN does not leak WebRTC information.
Virus Test
Surprisingly, the provider did not pass the app’s online fitness test. One engine was detected during the test.
Trustworthiness – Logging Policy & Customer Support
Unblock is extremely transparent about its logging policy. It keeps the following data.
Here’s how long it keeps this data.
To put it in simple words, it stores your personal information for the duration of your contract. It does not, however, store your session logs.
What you do while using the VPN remains your business unless you violate the TOS.
Customer Support
In terms of customer support, users can use different channels like:
- Downloads and Guides
- FAQs
- Contact
- Members
Compatibility – Supports all major platforms
Unblock VPN has dedicated apps for Windows and Mac. However, it is only workable on Android, iOS, and Routers through manual configuration.
Unfortunately, there are no Unblock VPN Chrome or Firefox add-ons available for secure browsing.

Do I Recommend Unblock VPN?
After writing this Unblock VPN review . No, I don’t recommend Unblock VPN.
The reasons are obvious. They don’t have a huge server spread in their armory. Moreover, they keep some logs for a longer time period. Similarly, the service does not help users access US Netflix.
To conclude this Unblock VPN Review , I would establish that the service has a long way to go because its premium plans are still on the higher side.
On a positive note, the service delivers a free trial that you can use for three (3) days straight away. Furthermore, their customer support is efficient when responding to users’ queries through live chat and other options.
Based on the above analysis, I would assign the provider a 3.0/5.0 stars rating overall.
