EarthVPN Review 2023
EarthVPN is a cheap VPN but isn't worth paying even a small amount. It has only 190 servers and none of those unblocks Netflix or are fast enough for streaming. For the price of $3.99/mo, EarthVPN earns 2.4 stars.

EarthVPN is based in Northern Cyprus. It offers 190 servers across 6 continents in 54 countries, however, according to our EarthVPN review, none of these servers are capable of performing up to mark. When it comes to streaming, its servers are highly unreliable. Not only that, this VPN doesn’t offer live chat support which is quite bothersome.
It only gives a 7-day money-back guarantee which is certainly not the industry’s best and that too without a free trial. Despite its cheap price, it doesn’t even get close to a premium VPN like ExpressVPN. That’s why after our thorough research and testing we rate its services 2.4/5 stars.

EarthVPN offers 2 different pricing plans and both of them are affordable; one costs just US$3.99 per month or opt for its annual plan which costs US$39.99. Although this price isn’t as affordable as ExpressVPN still it makes a very good claim. It also gives a 7-day money-back guarantee which is not the industry’s best.
EarthVPN also offers Add-ons which cost just US$1.99/mo. Have a look at these pricing plans:

But if you’re looking for a better VPN option at more affordable prices, head over to our list of best VPN deals to make the most of this golden opportunity.
Server Network – How many servers are offered by EarthVPN?
EarthVPN offers 190 servers across 54 countries and 6 continents. It has servers in Middle Eastern countries, Taiwan, and even China which is extremely rare. This means it has obfuscated servers that help them bypass even the strongest internet restrictions.
EarthVPN’s website claims that its servers offer minimum latency, the fastest speeds, and strong connectivity regardless of where you are. Although we were impressed by the claims, we didn’t believe their word until we checked out the workings of EarthVPN servers and found them disappointing.
Security and Encryption Features – Is EarthVPN safe?
Yes, EarthVPN is secure. It uses advanced encryption and authentication protocols. It offers 256-bit encryption which is considered the highest in the VPN industry.
Let’s have a look at the tunneling protocols and encryption offered by EarthVPN:
- L2TP/IPsec with 256-bit key encryption
- PPTP with MMPE 128-bit cipher
- OpenVPN with AES 128 & 256-bit encryption
- SSTP with 2048-bit encryption
- SSH Tunnel/Socks Proxy with 128-bit and 256-bit

Added:
Speed – How fast is EarthVPN?
EarthVPN speeds are very poor. We connected to its UK server which claims on its website that these are super fast servers, but unfortunately not for us.
We used a base internet connection of 100 Mbps and once we connected to EarthVPN, the download speed dropped to 11.31 Mbps and provided an upload speed of 4.20 Mbps, which is far too slow.
Here is the screenshot:
As you can see in the picture above, the speed declined by 89%. As a result, we could barely browse, stream or download content using EarthVPN. That’s why we called it quits on this VPN. There are far better VPNs out there that surpass EarthVPN’s services.
Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?
No, unfortunately, EarthVPN doesn’t work with Netflix. Despite the fact that EarthVPN’s website clearly states in the FAQs section that it is capable of unblocking US and UK TV stations, it doesn’t seem to be the case when we tested it.
We connected to a local server offered by EarthVPN and kept running into an error page despite our multiple attempts. Channels like FXNOW, AMC, CW, Showtime, Lifetime, and ABC, were all out of reach for us while using EarthVPN.
Only the best service providers are able to unlock major streaming sites due to extreme restrictions put on by the streaming service. If unblocking Netflix was your first choice, you need to get either ExpressVPN or Surfshark.
Torrenting – Does EarthVPN support torrenting?
Yes, EarthVPN supports torrenting across the globe through its optimized P2P servers to torrent traffic. It has P2P-optimized servers that work great while you download torrents. It completely hides your IP and makes you anonymous online.
However, the P2P/torrenting servers are only available in selected countries; Panama, Canada, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Romania, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Based on our experience, we found EarthVPN speeds insufficient for torrenting as it took us half an hour to download just a 1 GB file. So, EarthVPN wouldn’t be our first choice for torrenting.
In fact, the only best streaming option when using EarthVPN is Kodi. If you want to access the geo-restricted content on Kodi for free, you can also use the best VPN for Kodi to accomplish your media streaming cravings.
Installation Apps and Ease of Use
Installing the setup apps of EarthVPN is fairly straightforward and you don’t even need a third-party client’s assistance.
You can configure EarthVPN on your DD-WRT/Tomato firmware to Apple TV, Roku, Smart TVs, PlayStation, and other non-VPN devices. If you’re having a hard time configuring you can look up set up tutorials on EarthVPN’s website.
Upon testing the Windows app of EarthVPN firsthand, we found the app’s UI pretty outdated and a bit slow at times. Even though it was easy to use and the features were all within sight, the app UI wasn’t appealing and needed improvement.
Device Compatibility – Which devices are supported by EarthVPN?
EarthVPN supports multiple devices that include:
- Windows
- Linux
- macOS
- iOS
- Android
- DD-WRT
- Tomato routers
- PDAs
- PlayStation
- Xbox
- Apple TV via DD-WRT
- Chromecast
The VPN service has clients for Windows and Mac OS X while their app for Linux is soon to be launched. You can connect to 3 simultaneous connections with a single EarthVPN account.
Bypass Censorship
Through our EarthVPN review, we came to learn that EarthVPN may possess the best encryption and security measures, however, it is not a suitable option for bypassing censorship in strict countries.
Apart from streaming sites, EarthVPN also failed to unblock other geo-restricted sites for us. Regardless of how close we were to the location we wanted to unblock, we couldn’t receive fruitful results. EarthVPN left us hanging while loading for minutes which we found highly annoying.
So we’d discourage anyone who wants to use this VPN for getting past geo-restrictions.
Customer Support – Is EarthVPN customer support helpful?
EarthVPNs customer support is just average. There is no live chat support, but it does have a ticketing and email system. The response time is about 12 hours so you can sleep on the response. You can also directly contact their support staff via email.

FAQs – EarthVPN Review
I’m in China, Bahrain, Iran, North Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and any other country with censored Internet. Can EarthVPN help?
Yes EarthVPN can be of help if you’re living in a country with censored internet according to their website. That includes China, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, North Korea, and Saudi Arabia. It states you can bypass ISP/government censorship and restrictions with ease using EarthVPN.
Do EarthVPN offer dynamic or static IP addresses?
Yes, EarthVPN does offer dynamic and static IP addresses. In fact, every EarthVPN account has dynamic shared IP addresses as default. As a result, every time you connect to a server, you’ll be provided a brand new IP address.
Similarly, while using static IP addresses, your public IP will be the same when you connect to a previously used server location. You may also use add-ons to purchase dynamic port forwarding/static IPs.
Do EarthVPN provide a refund/money-back guarantee?
Yes, EarthVPN provides a 7-day money-back guarantee with no questions asked or any hidden conditions.
Do we Recommend EarthVPN?
No, we do not recommend EarthVPN.
EarthVPN is a low-cost VPN but it has a very slow server speed and is not recommended for streaming. It doesn’t unblock US Netflix and keeps your connection logs.
It tracks your original IP address which is a bit of a shocker and doesn’t have live chat support. EarthVPN doesn’t offer much of a feature for the price a user has to pay. So, we don’t recommend EarthVPN after all and rate its services as 2.4/5 stars.

I’m a Chinese, because I don’t allow browsing any foreign websites in China, I tried to use this company’s VPN service, it can’t be used after downloading, I tried to refund it, I have already applied for it, now it’s the 8th day, I still can’t use it , And there was no reply to the email. Is Northern Cyprus so powerful?
Hi Dellawesome,
We are very sorry for your troubles with EarthVPN. We do not recommend this VPN due its many problems, but it seems that they are charging people money even though their service isn’t properly operational anymore.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We hope you are able to get your refund.
Are you kidding !!! this is the worst performing VPN service available was with them for 4 years then in 2019 they fell off the planet, most servers fail to connect and there is Zero response to support tickets and i mean zero response worst VPN provider 2019 total waste of money
Yes, and that is why I specifically mentioned that I do not recommend this service. Thanks for pointing out. Cheers!
Do not use this VPN, they will not cancel your account and will keep charging you every month! BEWARE! I have been trying for months to cancel, forget it!!
Hi Barbara,
We’re sorry that you have experienced this with EarthVPN. This is extremely shameful on the part of the VPN.
We do not recommend this VPN and it is probably not even fully operational anymore. But it’s sad that they’re still charging money for it.
The 2 most under-rated features of EarthVPN are their SSTP/SSH/SOCKS proxy & their dedicated server / static IP. They will both cost more whether you buy monthly or yearly however both are extremely useful especially if you are looking to use your vpn with video streaming services like netflix, kodi or anything else that flags your ip if it changes too much. I use their socks proxy client always before I login to paypal so that I can make sure i never set off the paypal robots on my account
Hey, you’re absolutely right. These features are critical to its success. But I also want to make a point that its speed was poor when we tested. May be you need to change the server and try connecting the one that brings you fast speed.
Around a year ago I too, was in search of a cheap VPN and earthvpn got it all. Servers that I use are up like 99% of the time, excellent upload/download speed. Superior price… they got it all. Highly satisfied.
Thank you for your valuable feedback 🙂
