EarthVPN Review 2020

EarthVPN is a cheap VPN but isn't worth paying even a small amount. It has only 190 servers and none of those unblocks Netflix or are fast enough for streaming. For the price of $3.33/mo, EarthVPN earns 2.7 stars.

Based inNorthern Cyprus [SAFE]
Servers190 (54 Countries)
LogsConnection Logs
Multi Login3 Devices
Refund7 Days Money Back

EarthVPN uses an advanced 256-bit encryption and authentication protocols, offers a cheap price, and is based in Northern Cyprus (outside of 5 eyes jurisdiction)

It has 190 servers but none of those servers offer fast speed or unblocks Netflix. It doesn’t have live chat support nor you will find a kill switch feature (important for your online safety).

It only gives 7-days money-back guarantee which is certainly not industry’s best and that too without a free trial.

Despite its cheap price, it doesn’t even get close to Surfshark or PureVPN.

Read our EarthVPN review to find out why I say it is a cheap VPN but isn’t worth buying.

My Rating Criteria

Here you will find a list of factors that I will perform EarthVPN review:

  1. Pricing – How much does EarthVPN cost?
  2. Security – Encryption & features
  3. Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?
  4. Speed – How fast is EarthVPN?
  5. Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?
  6. Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?
  7. Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support
  8. Compatibility – Apps and supported devices

Pricing – How much does EarthVPN cost?

EarthVPN offers 2 different pricing plans and both of them are affordable. Have a look at these pricing plans:

Although this price isn’t as affordable as PureVPN or NordVPN, but still it makes a very good claim.

It also gives 7-days money back guarantee which is not the industry’s best.

Payment Methods

EarthVPN accepts payments from a number of ways. Here is a list:

  • PayPal
  • UnionPay
  • CashU
  • Visa
  • Master Card
  • Ukash
  • WebMoney
  • Alipay
  • American Express
  • Paysafecard
  • Discover
  • AliPay

As you can see, it offer tons of choice when making payments That is something very impressive.

But if you’re looking for a better VPN option at more affordable prices, head on over to our list of best VPN deals to avail amazing discounts!

Security – Encryption & features

EarthVPN uses advanced encryption and authentication protocols. It offers 256-bit encryption which is considered highest in the VPN industry.

Let’s have a look at the tunneling protocols it offers:

  • L2TP/IPsec with 256-bit key encryption
  • PPTP with MMPE 128 bit cipher
  • OpenVPN with AES 128 & 256 bit encryption
  • SSTP with 2048 bit encryption

Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

EarthVPN is based in Northern Cyprus that falls under the governance of Turkey but does NOT fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, 14 eyes country.

This means, even if the US authorities or other countries try to order users’ information, they would not have to oblige any of their orders.

But a lot depends on their logging policy that I will be discussing ahead.

EarthVPN has covered 6 continents, 54 countries, and has 190 servers.

It has servers in Middle East countries, Taiwan, and even China which is extremely rare. This means it has obfuscated servers that help them bypass even the strongest internet restrictions.

If you want to look at some of the VPNs that have obfuscated servers, then check out our guide.

Speed – How fast is EarthVPN?

EarthVPN speed is just poor. I connected to its UK server which it claims on its website that these are super fastest servers.

My internet without a VPN was around 32 Mbps and once I connected to EarthVPN, the speed dropped to 11.31 Mpbs, which is too slow.

Here is the screenshot:

As you can see in the picture above, the speed declined by 65%.

Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?

Needless to say, EarthVPN did NOT unblock US Netflix Movies or TV Shows. Only the best service providers are able to unlock Netflix library due to extreme restrictions put on by the streaming service.

If unblocking Netflix was your first choice, you need to get either PureVPN or Surfshark.

It has P2P optimized servers that work great while you download torrents. It completely hides your IP and makes you anonymous online.

In fact, that is the only best streaming option when using EarthVPN including Kodi.

If you want to access the geo-restricted content on Kodi for free, you can also use best proxy for Kodi service to accomplish your media streaming cravings.

Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

EarthVPN easily passed all kinds of leak test that I conducted for IP, DNS, and WebRTC. I connected to the same UK server.

Here are the results:

IP Test

DNS Test

Virus Test

I conducted a virus test for EarthVPNs Windows client that I downloaded from their website. I inserted the file in VirusTotal. It passed the virus test.

Here is a screenshot:

Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support

EarthVPN does not keep usage logs, but it does keep connection logs. Here is a list of personal information that they collect:

  • First name
  • Username
  • Password
  • Email address
  • IP address (critical)

Why would a VPN want to know your IP address? That is something I didn’t like.

They only claim that they use this information to enhance users’ website and service experience.

Customer and Tech-Support

EarthVPNs customer support is just average. There is no live chat support, but it does have a ticketing and email system.

The response time is about 12 hours so you can sleep on the response. You can also directly contact their support staff via email.

Compatibility  – Apps and supported devices

Earth VPN supports multiple devices that include Windows, Linux, MacOS, iOS, Android, dd-wrt & tomato routers, and PDAs.

EarthVPN also supports

  • PlayStation
  • Xbox
  • Apple TV via DD-WRT
  • Chromecast

The VPN service has clients for Windows and Mac OS X while their app for Linux is soon to be launched. You can connect to 3 simultaneous connection with a single EarthVPN account.

Do I Recommend Earth VPN?

No, I do not recommend EarthVPN.

EarthVPN is a low-cost VPN but it has very slow server speed and is not recommended for streaming. It doesn’t unblock US Netflix and keeps your connection logs.

It tracks your original IP address which is a bit of a shocker and doesn’t have live chat support.

EarthVPN doesn’t offer much of a feature for the price a user has to pay. So, I don’t recommend EarthVPN after all.
