MyVPN Review in New Zealand – Rating Criteria

Here you will find a list of factors that I will be using to perform MyVPN review in New Zealand:

Pricing – How much does MyVPN cost in New Zealand?

The prices are relatively expensive in New Zealand. MyVPN definitely gives you the feeling that you own it as the prices are simple and make it very easy for a user to equip devices with MyVPN. It offers four different plans to all its users.

And not surprisingly, the plans range from monthly to yearly.

myvpn review

If you are interested in purchasing a monthly plan in New Zealand, MyVPN offers you L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, and OpenVPN protocols along with 256-bit encryption for NZ$ 15.50/month only. The packages provided by MyVPN are universal; therefore the features and services in all the packages will be the same, only the prices will vary as per the plan.

Then comes the quarterly package which is available for subscription for NZ$ 10.85/month only. MyVPN gives a massive 45% off on its spring break promo, rounding off to NZ$ 32.57/3-months. The half-yearly subscription would cost you a mere NZ$ 46.53/6 months, making it NZ$ 7.91/month for you.

But the best bet is their annual plan. Imagine paying NZ$ 7.49/month for a service that unblocks all the restricted content and protects you from the threats of snoopers and online surveillance agencies, MyVPN does all of it and comes at a price of NZ$ 90.01/12 month, costing you NZ$ 7.49/month only.

Payment Options

MyVPN offers Master Card, Paypal, Bitcoin, Visa Card, American Express, and other web money options as payment options in New Zealand. You can select any of them to avail of the services of MyVPN.

We have always believed that if a VPN service is trying too hard to make you feel comfortable with the features and other options, do not let it go. In MyVPN’s case, we were actually pleased to know that it offers various payment methods to make sure its users are given all the options that facilitate them.

Refund Policy

MyVPN offers a 7-day refund policy to all its users in New Zealand. If you have a genuine concern with its services and you think its services haven’t helped you and they aren’t up to the mark, you can contact its Customer Support and ask for a refund within 7 days of the subscription in New Zealand.

Security – Encryption & features

MyVPN keeps your protection and online safety priority; therefore it provides all its users with at least 256-bit encryption that is accustomed to 2048-bit Customer IP protection in New Zealand. All your data will not only be kept safe, but MyVPN makes sure that even the minutest of details are inaccessible to all the evils of the internet.

Similarly, MyVPN offers decent protocol support like any other VPN provides for the protocols. You can get connected to OpenVPN if you are looking for maximum security and the best online privacy in New Zealand. You would have noticed the Mimic 256-bit protocol as well. Sometimes VPNs do not get connected due to the enabled firewalls.

You can always use the Mimic 256-bit protocol to bypass all sorts of restrictions imposed by the Firewalls. You can also get connected to L2TP/IPSec protocol (which is most commonly used on all mobile devices) and in the same way, you can get connected to the PPTP protocol (the least secure yet the fastest protocol) if you are looking for the best online streaming experience in New Zealand.

Jurisdiction –Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

MyVPN is based in the United States, a country that falls under 5 eyes intelligence sharing nation.

I rarely recommend users use the VPN service that is available in these countries.

Servers

MyVPN provides 20 servers all over the world to all its users

Most VPN users are always excited by the idea of more and more VPN servers. The more they are, the more opportunities they get to access all the content and websites worldwide. However, only a few understand that its servers do not actually judge a VPN; rather, it is judged by its servers’ performances.

What’s interesting is the fact that all the servers have an uptime of 99.99%, which means you will never have to wait in a queue to get connected to your desired server. If you are looking for a server that would give you access to the home of TV shows and movies – Netflix, you will only need to connect to the US server of MyVPN in New Zealand.

Similarly in this MyVPN Review in New Zealand, if you are looking for European content at your home, it is advisable to connect to either the UK server or the Netherlands server. MyVPN recommends all its users to connect to the Netherlands server if they are looking for the best online security. Likewise, if you are looking to attain the maximum VPN speed, it is recommended to get connected to the Hong Kong server.

If you happen to live in China and are fed up by the constant blocking of content by the Great Firewall of China, it is recommended to connect through the PPTP protocol on the Hong Kong server. You will not only be able to use the internet freely, but you will also be able to unblock all the popular social networking websites like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube etc.

Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support

MyVPN believes in keeping things simple and therefore does not store any logs of its users. All their activities are safe and there is definitely no room for sharing the details of your activities with anyone.

Customer Support

MyVPN has a pretty decent existing Customer Support and they provide you live assistance via phone support (which is very rare for VPN companies), Live Chats, and a Ticket system. With 24/7/365 active Customer Support, all your queries are responded to within a few minutes.

MyVPN provides a 3-day free trial to all its users in New Zealand. In all honesty, the trial period is a bit short relative to other VPN services, but as they say “Make hay while the sun shines”, we believe it is still good enough to figure out how it works and what are its shortcomings.

Compatibility – Apps and supported devices

MyVPN is highly compatible and functional on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phones, Blackberry, and Kindle.

When it comes to configuring a VPN service on a hand-held device or a laptop/PC, many VPNs fail to deliver the promised device compatibility in New Zealand. But MyVPN makes sure it easily fits in your device and does what it does best.

With such high device compatibility, MyVPN can also directly be set up on Windows and Mac as it has specifically designed VPN clients for them. MyVPN functions on all other devices, but to make it work on them, you will have to configure it on your devices to make it work on them.

Setting Up MyVPN

MyVPN can be set up in three easy steps on your computer or laptop. The same can be said about Mac as well. Before you decide to install MyVPN on your device, remember, you should have an account registered with MyVPN to make it work on your device in New Zealand.

The software can be downloaded for free and you can download it from MyVPN’s website. Once you have finished downloading it, click on it and complete the installation process, and open MyVPN. As soon as the software window appears, fill in your username (read: email address with which you are registered) and password.

Once you have entered the details, check if you have entered the email address and password correctly. Wrong credentials will never allow you to connect to any of its servers. After having gone through the details, click on Login. It will take some time to log in and you will be prompted with this window.

Now that you have been logged in, it’s up to you to select the server. Remember! You still haven’t been connected to MyVPN’s server, so in order to do that, once you have selected your desired VPN server, click on Connect and wait for it to redirect you to a different Window.

Once MyVPN is connected, you will notice some changes in the Window. You can now also see that your traffic is being encrypted through the Mimic 256-bit protocol, which by the way, can be changed by clicking on it. You would have noticed the Contact Support tab as well, you can always connect to one of the representatives if you feel the VPN is having some troubles.

Upon clicking on Mimic 256 bit, you will be presented with this.

As the above picture suggests, not only do you have the option to select your own VPN protocol, but you can also check other settings under the tabs of General, Apps, DNS and Account. Setting up MyVPN isn’t an uphill task and you would need only a few basic things to make it run on your device.

Alternatives of MyVPN in New Zealand

If you are not interested in this MyVPN Review in New Zealand, you will be better off checking out the following provider’s reviews.

Do I Recommend MyVPN in New Zealand?

No, I do not recommend MyVPN in New Zealand.

MyVPN is a decent VPN service. Yes, it needs to work on increasing its server, but it is a new VPN service and we can give it the margin it deserves.

But it has a poor logging policy and the price is too expensive as well in New Zealand.

All in all in our guide for MyVPN review in New Zealand, MyVPN comes in handy for unblocking blocked websites, but the app experience is not so good at all. I will not recommend using it in New Zealand.
