January 10, 2025 | Wisconsin, USA — Several Wisconsin school districts have filed lawsuits against educational technology provider PowerSchool Holdings Inc. following a significant data breach that exposed sensitive information of students, parents, and teachers.
The breach, discovered on December 28, 2024, involved unauthorized access to PowerSchool’s Student Information System (SIS) through compromised credentials. The infiltrators accessed and downloaded data, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical records, and academic information.
PowerSchool acknowledged the incident, stating that the breach has been contained and that they have taken steps to prevent further unauthorized access. However, the company has not disclosed the exact number of affected individuals or districts.
