Brussels, December 11, 2024 –A Senior Dating data breach exposed personal info of 765K users, risking identity theft and fraud. Users urged to act fast and secure their accounts.
A massive data breach has shaken the online dating world, leaving 765,000 users of Senior Dating exposed to potential identity theft and cyber fraud.
Sensitive data from the platform, including personal photos, email addresses, birth dates, and even relationship preferences, has been laid bare in an unprecedented breach discovered on November 23, 2024.
The breach was publicly confirmed via the Have I Been Pwned database on December 9.
The breach’s source—a misconfigured Firebase database—has raised urgent questions about the security of dating platforms, especially for vulnerable demographics like seniors. Cybersecurity expert Boris Cipot warns:
This leak exposes users to targeted phishing, identity theft, and even stalking. It’s not just data—it’s people’s lives.
The breach isn’t limited to Senior Dating. Sister platform Ladies.com also suffered a similar fate, leading to both platforms shutting down indefinitely. This incident highlights the alarming trend of cybercriminals exploiting online matchmaking platforms, which hold troves of highly sensitive information.
Affected users are now urged to change all similar passwords and enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) immediately. Cipot advises:
Monitor your accounts, bank statements, and even emails closely. This is the kind of data that fuels devastating financial and social scams.
With this breach, online safety is under scrutiny. Seniors, often less tech-savvy, are particularly at risk.
