Kyiv, Ukraine, December 16, 2024 –Ukrainian teens manipulated by Russian FSB for cyber ops and airstrike intelligence, exposing a disturbing trend of child exploitation in modern warfare.

In a shocking revelation, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has uncovered a sinister espionage campaign orchestrated by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), targeting Ukrainian minors to aid in cyber operations and airstrike reconnaissance.

Teenagers as young as 15 were reportedly recruited under the guise of participating in quest games,” only to be manipulated into carrying out reconnaissance missions.

These minors were tasked with photographing and filming key locations, including air defense facilities, and sending the intelligence to Russian handlers through encrypted channels.

This critical data was then used to execute airstrikes in Kharkiv, officials revealed. An SBU spokesperson stated:

Among those detained are two groups of minors operating separately and a Russian police officer identified as the liaison for the operation. The minors face legal consequences, while the officer has been charged with sabotage under martial law.

One organizer has been taken into custody and faces life imprisonment. James Harkins, a cybersecurity expert, weighed in on the incident:

This alarming revelation comes amid heightened cyberattacks against Ukraine, targeting its defense infrastructure and security agencies. CERT-UA, Ukraine’s cyber emergency response team, warns of additional Russian-linked intrusions aimed at destabilizing the nation.
