In a shocking AI data breach, OmniGPT, a popular AI aggregator, has leaked 34 million private user chats, API keys, and emails, putting thousands at high risk of cyberattacks and identity theft.
The stolen data, which includes sensitive conversations, login credentials, and billing details, was listed for sale on a dark web forum by a hacker known as Gloomer.
OmniGPT, which provides access to ChatGPT-4, Claude 3.5, Google’s Gemini, and Midjourney, has not yet confirmed the breach, but cybersecurity experts warn that the data leak appears highly credible. A cybersecurity analyst Jacob Ideskog said:
This breach is a wake-up call for AI users. Millions of personal and corporate interactions are now in the hands of hackers.
While the exact method of the hack remains unclear, experts suggest flawed user authentication or poor API security allowed unauthorized access to OmniGPT’s servers. The hacker claims that chat logs contain confidential corporate data, exposing trade secrets, internal communications, and even sensitive financial records.
Jason Soroko, a privacy expert warned:
If users were discussing private company data, that information is now public property.
OmniGPT users are advised to change their passwords, revoke compromised API keys, and remain vigilant against phishing attempts. Experts also urge businesses to rethink how they share sensitive information with AI tools, as AI platforms remain prime targets for cybercriminals.
