California, USA | February 17, 2025 –NorthBay Health suffers a data breach, leaking 569K records, including SSNs, PINs, and medical details. Victims face risks of identity theft and financial fraud.
NorthBay Health Corporation has fallen victim to a massive data breach, exposing the personal, medical, and financial records of 569,000 Americans, according to the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
Hackers infiltrated NorthBay Health’s systems between January 11 and April 1, 2024, compromising highly sensitive data, including names, birthdays, and Social Security numbers (SSNs), passport and driver’s license numbers, credit and debit card details with PINs and security codes, medical and health insurance information, biometric data, and account passwords.
This breach is a wake-up call for the entire healthcare sector.
NorthBay Health has since upgraded security protocols and is offering affected individuals one year of free identity theft protection via Experian IdentityWorks. However, many victims fear the long-term impact of stolen SSNs and financial details. Lisa Monroe, a privacy advocate said:
Even if no fraud is detected yet, the threat lingers for years.
Experts note that healthcare providers have become prime targets for cyberattacks due to the vast amount of personal data they store.
