January 20, 2025 – A data breach at Wolf Haldenstein has exposed sensitive data of 3.5 million individuals. Victims face risks of fraud and phishing. The firm offers credit monitoring.

In a chilling revelation, Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP has confirmed a data breach impacting a staggering 3.5 million individuals. The breach, which occurred on December 13, 2023, exposed sensitive information, including full names, Social Security Numbers (SSNs), medical diagnoses, employee IDs, and medical claims, leaving millions vulnerable to cyberattacks.

The law firm cited delays in forensic investigations and data processing as reasons for taking over a year to identify victims, sparking outrage among those potentially affected. Despite knowing the extent of the breach in December 2024, the firm has yet to contact all individuals due to missing contact details.

Experts warn this exposed data could lead to phishing, fraud, and social engineering schemes. The firm’s delayed response has raised eyebrows. A cybersecurity analyst James Carter said:

To mitigate the fallout, Wolf Haldenstein is offering free credit monitoring services. Affected individuals are advised to monitor their accounts for unusual activity, set up fraud alerts, and consider security freezes.

The breach is listed on Maine AG’s data breach portal, highlighting the scale of the attack. As of now, it remains unclear whether clients, staff, or other entities were specifically targeted.
