Oklahoma City, February 25, 2025 –Lucent Health’s data breach exposed SSNs, medical records, and insurance details, putting victims at high risk of fraud. Legal action is now underway.
Lucent Health has suffered a devastating data breach, exposing thousands of individuals’ Social Security numbers, medical records, and health insurance details. Cybercriminals infiltrated the company’s systems, gaining unauthorized access to highly sensitive data, putting affected individuals at severe risk of identity theft and fraud.
The breach, first detected on October 2, 2023, was caused by inadequate security measures, allowing hackers to access names, demographic information, medical histories, and insurance details.
Experts warn that this type of breach can have long-term consequences since medical identity theft is much harder to detect and resolve than financial fraud. A cybersecurity expert Nathaniel Morales said:
Medical identity theft can ruin lives. Victims may not realize their information has been misused until they receive fraudulent medical bills or insurance claims.
The Murphy Law Firm has launched an investigation into potential legal claims against Lucent Health, arguing that the company failed to protect its clients’ most private information. Victims may be eligible for compensation due to negligence. Data privacy attorney Mike Herrington said:
A breach of this scale should never happen in healthcare. These organizations have a duty to safeguard patient information, and Lucent Health failed.
Lucent Health has yet to disclose how many individuals were affected, but experts believe the fallout could be massive.
