LinkedIn has been hit with a massive €310 million fine by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) over violations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This hefty fine marks one of the most significant penalties issued under the GDPR, targeting the social networking platform for allegedly mishandling users’ personal data.
The decision follows a thorough investigation by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC), which discovered that LinkedIn had failed to obtain proper consent from users for certain data processing activities, particularly involving personalized advertising.
