Panic erupted across Türkiye after a cyberattack on the High-Speed Toll System (HGS) left app users vulnerable to offensive notifications and cryptocurrency extortion attempts.
Despite widespread concern, officials from Türkiye’s postal service, PTT, firmly denied allegations of data leakage, assuring users their personal information remains secure.
The breach, detected on December 10, resulted in alarming app notifications containing offensive language and demands for cryptocurrency transfers.
Hackers threatened to expose personal user data if their demands were ignored, fueling fear among thousands of commuters who rely on the HGS system for seamless transit on bridges and highways.
