March 11, 2025 – Various Locations: In recent disclosures, four healthcare organizations across the United States have reported significant data breaches, collectively affecting more than 560,000 individuals.

The largest breach was reported by Sunflower Medical Group in Kansas. On January 7, 2025, they discovered unauthorized access to their systems dating back to December 15, 2024.

The compromised data includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, and health insurance details.

The Rhysida ransomware group has claimed responsibility, alleging the theft of over 3 terabytes of data. However, Sunflower Medical Group has officially reported that approximately 220,000 individuals were impacted.

In North Carolina, Hillcrest Convalescent Center, a nursing home and rehabilitation facility, detected suspicious network activity in late June 2024. Investigations revealed that cybercriminals accessed systems containing personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial account details, driver’s license numbers, medical records, and health insurance information.

This breach has affected just over 106,000 individuals. Gastroenterology Associates of Central Florida, operating as the Center for Digestive Health, identified a breach in their IT network in April 2024.

The exposed data encompasses names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, and health insurance details. Approximately 130,000 individuals have been affected by this incident.

Lastly, Community Care Alliance, a healthcare provider, reported a data breach impacting around 106,000 individuals. The compromised information includes personal and medical details, though specific data points have not been publicly detailed.

These incidents highlight the escalating threats faced by healthcare organizations, emphasizing the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive patient information.
