Another legal battle erupts! Data analytics firm Gravy Analytics is facing yet another lawsuit after a massive data leak exposed millions of smartphone location records. This marks the fourth lawsuit against the company since January, following allegations that 17TB of sensitive data was stolen and circulated on underground cybercrime forums
The leaked data reportedly includes precise geo-locations of smartphones across the US, Europe, and Russia, collected from popular apps like Tinder, Grindr, MyFitnessPal, Candy Crush, and even religious and pregnancy tracking apps.
The lawsuit alleges that Gravy Analytics failed to protect users’ privacy, violating California’s Unfair Competition Law and putting millions at risk of identity theft and tracking. A privacy advocate said:
