Bangkok, Thailand – February 27, 2025 – A notorious cybercriminal linked to over 90 global data breaches has been arrested in Thailand. The hacker, known by multiple aliases including “Altdos,” “Desorden,” and “Ghostr,” is accused of breaching 65 organizations in the Asia-Pacific region alone, stealing terabytes of sensitive data and extorting victims through ransom demands and public leaks.
The Royal Thai Police, in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force, confirmed the 39-year-old suspect used advanced hacking techniques like SQL injection attacks and remote desktop exploits to infiltrate organizations worldwide.
He is accused of targeting major corporations, government agencies, telecom providers, financial institutions, and even a British security database containing terrorist watchlist records. Dmitry Volkov, CEO of cybersecurity firm Group-IB, which assisted in the investigation said:
This arrest marks a major victory against cybercrime. The suspect was one of the most active cybercriminals in the Asia-Pacific, responsible for high-profile breaches since 2021.
The hacker allegedly used Cobalt Strike malware to control compromised servers, exfiltrating data to rented cloud storage for blackmail. When victims refused to pay, he leaked stolen data on hacking forums like RaidForums and BreachForums, increasing pressure through DDoS attacks and direct customer notifications.
Police seized luxury cars, high-end electronics, and assets worth over $300,000, revealing the scale of his operations. Cybersecurity expert Alex Tan warned:
This case shows how cybercriminals use intimidation and reputational damage as leverage. No organization is safe without strong defenses.
This arrest exposes the escalating threat of cyber extortionists and the high stakes of failing to secure sensitive data.
