A storm of controversy has erupted as Ford Motor Company firmly denies allegations of a massive data breach that hackers claim exposed over 44,000 customer records. The claims, made by a threat actor on BreachedForums, have left consumers questioning the safety of their sensitive information.
The alleged breach reportedly included customer names, physical addresses, purchase details, and timestamps. The hacker, under the alias “EnergyWeaponUser,” claimed responsibility, implicating another notorious hacker, “IntelBroker,” known for breaches at companies like Cisco and T-Mobile.
Ford, however, has countered the allegations. In a statement to BleepingComputer, the automaker said:
Our investigation has found no breach of Ford’s systems. The incident involved a third-party supplier and did not expose any sensitive customer data.
The company reassures that only publicly available dealer business addresses were involved. Despite Ford’s stance, concerns linger among customers, especially since the information was reportedly offered on hacking forums for as little as $2.
