London, February 3, 2025 —The Crazy Evil gang is draining millions from crypto wallets worldwide using phishing scams and advanced malware. Investors must stay vigilant against fraud.
A notorious cybercrime gang, known as Crazy Evil, has launched a massive global crypto heist, draining millions from unsuspecting investors. Security researchers have linked the group to over 10 ongoing scams, using StealC, AMOS, and Angel Drainer malware to hijack crypto wallets and steal sensitive financial data.
The Russian-speaking gang has been actively targeting users across social media, deploying sophisticated phishing scams that lure victims into downloading malicious software. Once installed, these malware programs intercept login credentials, drain digital wallets, and steal NFTs and payment card data.
This is one of the most coordinated and aggressive crypto-targeting operations we’ve seen.
The Crazy Evil operation, which has been active since at least 2021, is highly organized—it recruits social engineering traffers who redirect users to fake landing pages designed to harvest credentials.
With an estimated $5 million stolen so far, authorities fear the gang’s tactics will inspire even more cybercriminals to target the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. Cybercrime analyst Lisa Carter issued a warning:
Crypto investors must remain extremely cautious—this gang takes days or even weeks to study victims before launching highly personalized attacks.
The group operates a Telegram-based affiliate program, where members are provided with step-by-step instructions on executing attacks, making their reach even more dangerous.
As cryptocurrency adoption grows, attacks like this highlight the urgent need for stronger security measures. Experts urge users to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA), avoid clicking on suspicious links, and verify website authenticity before making transactions.
