Phoenix, AZ | March 19, 2025 – Cl0p hackers exploited Cleo’s flaws, exposing 22K Western Alliance Bank records, sparking financial panic. Victims face fraud risks as leaked data spreads.
In a chilling cybercrime wave, Cl0p ransomware hackers have leaked sensitive records of 22,000 Western Alliance Bank customers.
The breach, linked to vulnerabilities in the Cleo file transfer software, has exposed personal details, including Social Security numbers, financial account details, and passport information, leaving thousands at severe risk of identity theft and fraud.
The attack, which originated in October 2024, stemmed from Cleo software vulnerabilities (CVE-2024-50623 & CVE-2024-55956), allowing cybercriminals to infiltrate and steal critical data.
Western Alliance only discovered the breach months later, when Cl0p leaked the stolen files online. Paul Bischoff, privacy advocate at Comparitech said:
This is a catastrophic failure in cybersecurity. A single software flaw has led to thousands facing financial ruin.
The stolen data was later posted on Cl0p’s dark web leak site, sending panic through the financial sector. The breach has affected individuals across Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, prompting state and federal investigations.
Experts fear this attack is just the tip of the iceberg, as Cl0p has claimed over 332 unconfirmed attacks in 2025 alone. A cybersecurity expert John Hammond warns:
Banks must rethink security before it’s too late.
Western Alliance is offering one year of identity protection, but victims demand stricter security measures.
