Dallas, January 13, 2025BayMark Health Services breached: 1.5TB of sensitive patient data, including Social Security numbers and health records, stolen by hackers.

BayMark Health Services, one of North America’s leading substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers, has been hit by a massive data breach that has exposed 1.5TB of sensitive patient information.

The breach, reportedly claimed by the RansomHub ransomware gang, puts the personal and health records of over 75,000 daily patients at risk. The breach, discovered on October 11, 2024, followed a system outage.

Investigations revealed hackers accessed BayMark’s servers between September 24 and October 14, 2024, stealing data that included Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, dates of birth, insurance information, therapy records, and diagnostic histories. A cybersecurity expert Laura Kim stated:

BayMark has assured the public of immediate containment measures, notifying law enforcement and deploying a team to analyze the compromised files. To mitigate the impact, the company is offering a year of free identity monitoring services to affected individuals.

The breach is particularly alarming given BayMark’s vast network of over 400 treatment centers across 35 states and three Canadian provinces. Patients are now urged to remain vigilant for signs of identity theft or phishing scams.

While RansomHub claims responsibility, alleging they seized 1.5TB of data, BayMark has yet to confirm these assertions or disclose additional details.
