Cupertino, CA – March 12, 2025 –Apple has patched a severe WebKit zero-day vulnerability used in highly targeted cyberattacks. Users on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Vision Pro must update immediately.

Apple has released an urgent patch to fix a highly sophisticated WebKit zero-day vulnerability that was actively exploited in elite cyberattacks targeting specific individuals.

This flaw, tracked as CVE-2025-24201, could allow hackers to execute malicious code by luring victims to booby-trapped web pages, bypassing security protections.

The zero-day exploit, which Apple admitted had been actively used in the wild, affects devices running iOS, macOS, Safari, and visionOS.

Hackers leveraged the flaw to escape the Web Content sandbox, potentially gaining access to sensitive user data and system controls. A cybersecurity expert Liam Carter said:

Apple has not disclosed who was targeted, how long the attacks lasted, or whether state-sponsored actors were involved. However, the company confirmed that older iOS versions before 17.2 were vulnerable.

In response, Apple rolled out security updates for iOS 18.3.2, macOS Sequoia 15.3.2, Safari 18.3.1, and visionOS 2.3.2, urging users to update immediately. A security researcher Emma Rodriguez warned:

Apple has now patched three actively exploited zero-days in 2025 alone, highlighting the growing battle between hackers and device security.
