Despite being an experienced VPN provider, proXPN falls short in several aspects in South Korea. It has a limited number of server locations, a subpar free account offering, and insufficient encryption measures. Nonetheless, the company attempts to compensate for these shortcomings by offering user-friendly software and delivering exceptional customer service.
The Dutch VPN provider proXPN is a relatively new provider but has expensive pricing compared to industry leaders such as ExpressVPN or Surfshark.
It has only 20 servers with the slowest speed possible and doesn’t unblock US Netflix.
But it has decent encryption and does not keep logs. Still, I do not recommend this VPN service.

proXPN review South Korea – Rating Criteria
Below you will find a list of factors that I will be using to perform a proXPN VPN review in South Korea:
- Pricing – How much does proXPN cost in South Korea?
- Security – Encryption & features in South Korea
- Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?
- Speed – How fast is proXPN in South Korea?
- Streaming – Does it work with Netflix in South Korea?
- Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC in South Korea?
- Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support in South Korea
- Compatibility – Apps and supported devices in South Korea
Pricing – How much does proXPN cost in South Korea?
The price of proXPN is too high in South Korea. It offers 3 different pricing plans for online users. Here is a list:
- KRW 11,005/mo (3 Months Plan)
- KRW 13,185/mo (6 Months Plan) 17% OFF
- KRW 8,257/mo (12 Months Plan) 37% OFF
As you can see, none of the pricing plans are cheap. Although it gives users a discount, that’s not good enough.
It also offers a 30-days risk-free trial with a premium account in South Korea.
Payment Methods
These are the payment methods offered by proXPN in South Korea:
- Visa and MasterCard
- PayPal
- Bitcoin
Security – Encryption & features in South Korea
proXPN provides a 512-bit encryption tunnel, which is powerful encryption. This protects users’ online privacy against hackers, snoopers, intruders, and privacy invaders in South Korea.
It only has an OpenVPN client, but the PPTP protocol is available for premium users only.
Also, while creating a proXPN review South Korea, I discovered no L2TP/IPSec protocol support. This means users can’t download P2P files and torrents anonymously with proXPN.
Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?
proXPN is based in the Netherlands, which falls under 9 eyes country. Normally, I don’t recommend VPNs that fall under these intelligence-sharing countries is because the authorities have permission to spy on their citizens.
Not only that, they would share your data with other countries. VPN companies can do nothing about it even if they don’t want to cooperate with authorities.
In the end, they have to hand over users’ information. Have a look at the VPN jurisdiction in South Korea of some popular premium VPNs.
Servers
proXPN has 20 servers in 11 countries. The server count is too low, which is not acceptable considering the higher price of this VPN provider.
It has a presence in many popular countries such as the US, UK, Netherlands, Sweden, etc. But it does not have servers in China, Russia, or Middle East Countries.
These are the countries that have the toughest internet restrictions. To unblock websites in these countries, VPNs need obfuscation server technology in South Korea.
Speed – How fast is proXPN in South Korea?
proXPN servers have slow speed in South Korea, and that’s no surprise. I connected to their Seattle, US server to check for speed.
Before I connected to their server, my internet speed was 32 Mbps. Once I connected to proXPN, the speed went down to 8.45 Mbps. Not so impressive.
Here are the test results:
Streaming – Does it work with Netflix in South Korea?
proXPN has 2 dedicated servers that it claims to unblock US Netflix. But when I tested, it did NOT unblock Netflix in South Korea.
There are only 8 servers available in the US. A small server count has minimum chances to unblock anything, given the strong restrictions Netflix has.
My proXPN review South Korea reveals that all of their servers are P2P optimized. It means you can download torrents safely with the use of this VPN service.
Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC in South Korea?
proXPN passed all the leak tests. I did not find any leaks in IP, DNS, and WebRTC test.
I connected to their US server. Here are the test results:
IP Test
DNS Test
WebRTC Test
Virus Test
I also checked if there were any threats of viruses found in its Windows client. Gladly, I did not found any viruses.
Have a look at the test results:
Trustworthiness – Logs and customer support in South Korea
proXPN does not keep any kind of logs in South Korea. It only collects your personal information required to signup for the service, i.e., Email Address and Password.
In their privacy policy, they clearly state:
“Our logging policy is quite simple; we don’t log anything. We don’t log any activity of our users at any time. proXPN = NO LOGS.”
It also posts Warrant Canary informing users that they have not received any gag orders relating to users’ or IPs.
It is certainly a safe VPN to use despite the higher price.
Customer Support
proXPN has decent customer support. To contact their support staff, you will have to use Email, Twitter, and Phone in South Korea.
There contact details are: +1-239-259-1698
You can also visit their Help Center, which is also called Knowledgebase. They do not have live chat support, and that is a disappointment.
Compatibility – Apps and supported devices in South Korea
proXPN is available for platforms such as Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux.
The good news is, these have dedicated apps, so you don’t have to configure the VPN manually in South Korea.
Let’s check out some interfaces for this VPN in our proXPN review South Korea.
Windows Client
proXPN windows client is sleek and simple. The interface is equipped with handy features, where users can select from a list of locations, tunneling protocols (PPTP for premium users only), and an option to connect manually.
Fairly, we rate the proXPN window client as an average app due to the less appealing interface and absence of features like internet kill switch, DNS leak protection, and WebRTC leak protection.
Linux
Linux users can take advantage of proXPN Linux support and secure their online activities. However, a downside of proXPN Linux is that it works through OpenVPN and lacks an individual client in South Korea.
We expect proXPN to release an in-house client for Linux OS to secure worldwide Linux users.
Android
The Android App of proXPN is easy to use but has received mixed gestures from users. Apparently, the Android app interface is similar to many other VPN services in South Korea.
Users face issues when they try to use proXPN in a country different from where they originally subscribed to proXPN.
When it comes to downloading the proXPN APK file, you can visit websites such as APKPure. This way, you can download your preferred APK file of ProXPN hassle-free.
iOS Client
The app includes useful features while allowing subscribers to view their public location and public IP address in South Korea.
However, the absence of an internet kill switch and L2TP/IPSec restricts users from downloading and sharing P2P files on their iPhone and iPad.

Do I Recommend proXPN in South Korea?
No, i do not recommend ProXPN in South Korea.
I have to conclude this proXPN review South Korea here. During the analysis, I found its various feature not quite interesting.
There’s nothing to like about this VPN. It is based in the Netherlands, a part of 9 eyes country, and has poor server speed for streaming.
It has only 20 servers in 11 countries. With that said, it isn’t worth spending KRW 8,257 a month.
There’s no point I would recommend this VPN in South Korea.
