PureVPN advertises a 31-day no questions asked money back gaurantee, but is it really that simple to get a refund?
I put PureVPN refund policy to the test and found it be actually hassle-free. Even though PureVPN has a negative rep when it comes to refunds, I actually managed to get my money back fairly quick.
So if you’re looking to just try out PureVPN, or want to switch, you’re really going to love this guide. I’m not only going to tell you how to get a refund but also share with you my experience.

How to cancel PureVPN subscription – step by step
If the brief overview wasn’t enough for you, follow along with the detailed steps below. Now there are two ways you can cancel your PureVPN membership. You can either contact chat support or claim a refund through the member’s section.
Spoiler alert, the cancellation process shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.
Let’s start with the chat support method, shall we…
Method #1 – Via Live chat support
Step 1: Head over to PureVPN.com and click on the Live Chat support option located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Next, ask the support agent to cancel your PureVPN account.
Step 3: Upon being asked to provide a reason for the refund and a valid email address, just provide both information as necessary.
Step 4: If everything checks out, the support representative should confirm that your cancellation request has been approved and that you should get a refund within the designated time period.
Step 5: Lastly, you will receive a confirmation email once your refund request is processed. This step totally depends on the estimated time provided by the support agent. However, in my case, I managed to get a full refund the next day.
Method #2 – Via member’s section
If the live chat support option is not your cup of tea, you can use the member’s section on PureVPN’s website. Here’s how that works:
Step 1: Login to PureVPN’s member’s area using the credentials you used to purchase the subscription.
Step 2: 2- Once you’ve logged in successfully, you can access the cancellation form. Just enter your username along with some other details to submit a refund request.
Step 3: If you’ve done everything correctly, the PureVPN’s support team should follow up on your cancellation request at their earliest.
How’s the cancellation process?
If you can’t tell already, PureVPN’s refund process is pretty straight forward and surprisingly quick. Even though the support representative told me to wait 5-7 days for a refund, I managed to get a refund the next day.
One thing that I really liked about PureVPN’s refund process is the fact that they don’t ask a lot of questions. I just told the support representative that I no longer wished to use PureVPN and managed to get my money back.
PureVPN cancel auto-renewal
If you’re forgetful like me, you might want to opt-out of auto-renewal. So, in case you just want to try out PureVPN, for a month, you can disable auto-renewal and use the service for 31-days without worrying about reoccurring charges.
Here’s how you can cancel automatic renewal of PureVPN:
Below is an example of PayPal, but the process is more or less the same for other payment modes.
- Log in to your PayPal account and navigate to “Profile”.
- Next, go to ‘My Money’ and click the ‘Update’ option right beside “My Preapproved payments”.
- Lastly, select the payment associated with PureVPN, and click “Cancel”.
That’s it, you’ve successfully opt-out of auto-renewal for PureVPN.
PureVPN cancellation process– Reddit
If we talk now in 2019, PureVPN’s cancellation process is flawless. In fact, it works exactly as advertised. However, if you go back a few years back, people really seem to hate PureVPN’s refund process.
Here’s a 5-year-old comment I found on Reddit:
From the above comment, it’s obvious that PureVPN’s cancellation process might be terrible 5-years ago, but that’s certainly not the case now.
So now that your account’s canceled, Whats next?
So now that your PureVPN account’s canceled, you might be looking to switch to a different VPN. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other reliable VPN services you can switch to.
Speaking of which, the one VPN that offers just as fancy features as PureVPN but for even cheap is Surfshark. You get 1000+ servers all over the globe, powerful encryption, Kill switch and security protocols to help you unblock any geo-restricted content imaginable.
Even more impressively, Surfshark also works quite well in China. I’ve used the service in mainland China as well as Chongqing and didn’t encounter any issues.
Other than that, just like PureVPN, Surfshark works flawlessly with Netflix US, HBO, BBC iPlayer and other VoD services.
If you’re wondering how much does Surfshark cost? Well, their cheapest plan starts at just $1.99 per month and is also covered by a full 30-day refund policy.
Best of all, unlike PureVPN which offers only 5 multi logins, Surfshark offers unlimited simultaneous connections.
Still can’t decide between PureVPN VS Surfshark, here’s a brief comparison:
|Jurisdiction||Hong Kong||British Virgins Islands|
|Logging Policy||No logs||No logs|
|Speed||26.01 Mbps||24.91 Mbps|
|Server Network||2,000+ servers|
|Customer Support||Live Chat||Live Chat|
