Toronto, November 5 —Canadian authorities arrested Alexander Moucka for the Snowflake data breach impacting over 165 firms. The hacker faces serious charges in a high-profile crackdown.

In a significant cybercrime crackdown, Canadian authorities arrested Alexander Connor” Moucka, a suspect linked to the major data breach at cloud data warehousing giant Snowflake earlier this year. Known by his online aliases Judische” and Waifu,” Moucka was apprehended on October 30 following a U.S. request, marking a pivotal moment in cross-border cybersecurity enforcement.

The Snowflake breach, first revealed in June, compromised data of over 165 organizations, including major brands like AT&T, LendingTree, and Neiman Marcus. Cybersecurity firm Mandiant attributed the attack to UNC5537, a financially driven threat group with members in North America and Turkey.

The attackers reportedly used compromised credentials from stealer malware, infiltrating contractor systems engaged in questionable online behavior, such as downloading pirated content. Reports also tie Moucka to The Com,” a notorious cybercrime collective known for both digital and physical attacks.

The attackers extorted companies by threatening to sell stolen data on dark web forums. AT&T reportedly paid $370,000 to delete compromised data, underscoring the costly stakes in digital extortion cases.
