The internet users around the world are gradually increasing and so are the number of VPN users. According to Global Market Insights, the Virtual Private Network market is to hit $54bn by 2024 and that’s a good sign for VPN brands that have cemented their position as top VPNs in the market.

Our latest VPN data has been collected and synthesized using Google Trends from the year 2014 to 2019. I’ll cover the top trending VPNs around the world and specifically in countries like US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Worldwide VPN Trends

Here is a look at the VPN brands that are trending around the world:

As you can see, CyberGhost dominated the VPN industry worldwide since the end of 2014 to a good part of 2019. The position of was then took over by NordVPN and it continued through the very end of 2019 and still considered as the top trending VPN worldwide despite of the recent controversy.

Here is a look at the top trending VPNs in Australia explained through a graphical representation:

CyberGhost started aggressively well till the start of 2017, but then it were 3 providers NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and IPVanish exchanging position for the top spot. Currently, NordVPN has surged as the most dominant VPN for the last 2 years.

Let’s have a look at the top trending VPNs in the United States through a graphical representation:

At the start of 2014, CyberGhost was the top trending VPN until it was dethroned by IPVanish at the end of 2016. IPVanish continued to rule for over a year but again the VPN industry was ruled by NordVPN. It is also the current top trending VPN in USA as well.

VPN Trends in UK

Access better entertainment content is why people of UK require a VPN service according to Global Web Index. Now, let’s have a look at which VPN is trending in the UK through graphical representation:

CyberGhost ruled a good part of 2014 and 2015 in UK, until it was surpassed by IPVanish that remained a top VPN in the UK for exactly a year. Once again, NordVPN came along at stole the show and became a top trending VPN in UK.

VPN Trends in Canada

According to Global Web Index, the majority of Canadian users’ often use a VPN service provider because of keeping their online identity anonymous over the internet.

You will see a lot of fluctuation in the Canadian VPN trends. CyberGhost started off great in 2014, but in the early 2016 there were some great fluctuations on who ruled the industry.

At the latter half of 2017, NordVPN managed to cement its position as the top VPN in Canada.
