In the wake of Apple’s WWDC, where AI advancements took center stage, a new survey highlights the pressing cybersecurity challenges businesses to face due to AI-driven threats. Andrei Florescu of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group emphasizes that AI technology, particularly GenAI, presents significant risks.

Businesses across every industry face unprecedented challenges posed by an increasing attack surface, zero-day vulnerabilities, cloud misconfigurations, and new emerging threats driven by AI.

The survey shows 96% of respondents view GenAI as a threat, with 36% citing its role in creating deceptive content like deepfakes.

Google’s GenAI tools have revolutionized many aspects of business operations but also introduced complex security risks. The comparison of GenAI vs. AI highlights the advanced capabilities of GenAI in generating highly realistic synthetic content, making it a formidable tool in cyberattacks.

Cybersecurity Workforce Concerns

The survey reveals that 64.3% of security professionals are seeking new jobs, a 25% increase from last year. Additionally, 70.2% work weekends due to security concerns, with the UK showing the highest weekend work rate at 81%.

Top Security Threats and Proactive Measures

Phishing, social engineering, and software vulnerabilities remain top threats, with 74% of respondents noticing increased sophistication in phishing attacks. Despite these challenges, 93% plan to boost investment in proactive cybersecurity measures, such as pen testing and red teaming.

Data breaches have risen, with 57% of organizations experiencing incidents in the past year. The UK reported the highest breaches at 73.5%, while Singapore had the lowest at 33%.

Florescu underscores the importance of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, stating, “The goal of effective cybersecurity is not only stopping attacks at the door but also lowering risk and optimizing resources to help relieve pressure from security teams.”

According to a comprehensive report by VPNRanks, this expansion is driven by the global AI market’s predicted 30% growth for 2025, promising significant advancements in cybersecurity technologies.
