NordVPN Speed Test in Australia Results – In-Depth Analysis
In order to get a good idea of how NordVPN performs in Australia across different servers, we tested nine (9) different server locations of NordVPN with our 100 Mbps internet connection. We particularly analyzed ping, download, and upload speeds across different servers using Ookla’s speed test tool.
We ran speed tests without the VPN first to find out the speed results of our actual base connection. After that, we connected the VPN in and compared the two.
For the Oceania region, we tested the Australian servers in our NordVPN speed test. Let’s look at the results below:
While in Australia, we connected to NordVPN’s- Melbourne server for testing. And believe it or not, the Melbourne server managed to perform great. After running the test, we got a download speed of 93.57 Mbps and an upload speed of 89.52 Mbps. That’s a speed drop of almost 7% and 11% only! It was expected since the server was exceptionally close to our location.
With the Brazilian server location, we managed to get a download speed of 96.92 Mbps. If you compare the two screenshots above, you’ll notice that NordVPN improved our speeds. This means that our ISP was throttling our connection. Since the download speeds of Brazil were the highest in our tests, we can call it NordVPN’s fastest server.
However, NordVPN only managed to output an upload speed of 38.5 Mbps which is quite a speed drop. The latency was high as well.
The United Kingdom may not be a part of the European Union, but it’s still a part of Europe. So, in the Europe region, we tested NordVPN’s UK and German servers.
We connected to Germany – Berlin server and noticed a pretty significant drop of over 60% in our upload speeds. While we managed to get a download speed of 90.59 Mbps, we only managed to get an upload speed of 25.67 Mbps. As for the pings, we noted it down at just 124 ms which is quite good.
After Germany, we ran a NordVPN speed test on UK – London server. This time, the upload speeds (97.67 Mbps) were great! With an increase of almost 7%, we could enjoy gaming and uploading torrent files easily on this server. The download speeds (92.84 Mbps) were quite good as well with a drop of only 3%.
From the Asian region, we tested more than two locations of NordVPN. These include Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Israel. Let’s check out their NordVPN speed test results below:
The Hong Kong server of NordVPN performed quite well in terms of both upload (93.09 Mbps) and download (91 Mbps) speeds. In fact, we only got a decrease of 1% in our download speeds and our upload speeds increased by 3% as seen in the images above. The HK server lowered our pings as well, which is quite cool. While we did face slow NordVPN speeds on Android upon using this server while travelling, there were no issues on any desktop app.
As for the Japanese server, it performed exceptionally well in our NordVPN speed test. We got a download speed of 92.25 Mbps, and an upload speed of 93.41 Mbps with only 156 ms pings. Now that’s not bad at all, is it? In fact, our upload speeds actually increased, so there won’t be any NordVPN speed issues on this server.
Next up, we connected to the Singapore server for our NordVPN speed review. This was the only server location that offered the lowest pings. When we ran the test, we got 84 ms pings only. The speeds overall were great as we received 89.59 Mbps download speed and 98.09 Mbps upload speed. We recorded an improved upload speed of 8%, which was nearly touching our base speed.
When we connected to the Israeli server, we didn’t expect it to be fast at all. However, surprisingly, it managed to output a download speed of 92.09 Mbps and an upload speed of 87.75 Mbps. This time the pings we quite high reaching 477 ms. However, we did get slow NordVPN speeds on Android using the Israel server and therefore only recommend it for PCs.
In the American region, we tested the United States New York server locations of NordVPN. Let’s test a server of each country and see what we get. You can watch Motor Trend in Australia using the USA servers of NordVPN.
The final was the United States- New York server of NordVPN. Once we connected and ran the speed test on this server, we noticed that our download and upload speeds barely degraded at all. To be more specific, after connecting to NordVPN in Australia, our download speed was 91 Mbps, upload speed was 91.25 Mbps and ping was 131 ms.
