BlackVPN-Review-AU

BlackVPN is based in Hong Kong, outside of the 5 eyes jurisdiction. It doesn’t keep any logs or track users’ original IP addresses.

But it isn’t made for streaming in Australia. It has a slow server speed and doesn’t unblock US Netflix in Australia. Most of all, when scanned for viruses, its Windows app contained Trojan and Riskware viruses.

This is not a VPN that could keep users’ identities private in Australia, but it exploits their need for a VPN.

Let’s discuss our full BlackVPN review in Australia.

BlackVPN offers a 3 days FREE trial on its Android and iOS app in Australia. The app comes with an OpenVPN and AES-256-bit encryption.

This VPN has servers in Australia, the UK, Canada, the US, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and Singapore. It is also one of the few VPNs with Brazil servers.

Considering all the packages, BlackVPN is quite expensive in terms of price. So if you’re looking for better VPN options at low rates in Australia, check out our specially curated list of best VPN deals to avail of amazing discounts!

Security – Encryption & features

BlackVPN offers AES-256-bit encryption and 4096-bit RSA certificates only when you connect with the OpenVPN protocol.

Other than OpenVPN, it supports PPTP and L2TP/IPSec.

The clients of BlackVPN come with a built-in kill switch that is activated whenever there is a chance of your location and browsing data being exposed in Australia.

Jurisdiction – Is it located in a 5-eyes country?

BlackVPN is based in Hong Kong, a country that does not fall under 5 eyes, 9 eyes, or 14 eyes country.

It is good news for users in Australia because BlackVPN wouldn’t have to hand over your data when asked by authorities.

It is really important to know where your VPN provider headquarters is located. For example, If it’s located in the United States or the United Kingdom, where the government or any private sector organization can request your logs from the VPN provider then it might be a good idea to say away from that VPN.

We don’t leave our readers in the US and UK alone as well. As long as they are protecting themselves with either the best VPNs for the US or a reliable VPN that work in the UK then they should be absolutely fine.

Servers

BlackVPN provides 31 servers that are available in 18 countries including servers in Australia as well. They do not have servers in China or any other Middle Eastern countries though.

China and Middle East countries have the toughest internet restrictions. BlackVPN does not have obfuscation servers to bypass their restrictions.

It is, however, one of the few VPNs working in Romania.

Speed – How fast is BlackVPN?

As anticipated in my BlackVPN review, its speed is too slow. I connected to their Spain server to test for speed.

My internet speed before connecting to BlackVPN: 32 Mbps

My internet speed after connecting to the Spain server: was 11.43 Mbps

Here are the test results:

Streaming–Does it work with Netflix in Australia?

No, it does not work with Netflix in Australia. It has only 2 servers in the US, there was no way it could unblock the US media library in Australia.

You require a large server count to unblock Netflix because if one server is blacklisted, you can try with another.

From their Privacy VPN package, you can download torrents all you want because those servers are P2P optimized.

Streaming lovers would love to hear what I will be telling them next.

BlackVPN works nicely with the Kodi media player. Yes, it allows you to watch Live TV channels from all around the world. It is also a great VPN for Switzerland and other European countries with geo-restrictions.

Leaks – Does it leak IP, DNS & WebRTC?

BlackVPN was able to pass all the leak tests. I tested for leaks by connecting to their Spain server.

Here are the test results:

Virus Test

I scanned BlackVPNs Windows file for any viruses in Australia. There were 6 viruses found. These viruses were all Trojans and Riskware which can be a great threat to your online privacy.

Trustworthiness– Logs and customer support

BlackVPN has a clear log and privacy policy. The good news is – BlackVPN doesn’t maintain logs or monitor your online activities. As prescribed on their website, BlackVPN NEVER maintains.

  • Logs of your IP
  • Logs of online activities
  • Log of the Email address
  • Record of Payment

Nevertheless, BlackVPN is entitled to take necessary action when you are using its services for:

  • Spamming
  • Hacking
  • Harming others
  • Using P2P on UK, US, and Singapore Servers

Customer Support

In our BlackVPN review in Australia, I found that it has good customer support. It has 24/7 live chat support, Tickets, and FAQs.

The response time is perfect so there’s no way you’re walking away disappointed.

Compatibility – Apps and supported devices

BlackVPN is compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, and Routers.

You can configure BlackVPN easily on your DD-WRT router to liberate your Internet and breakthrough all geo-restrictions.

Alternative of BlackVPN in Australia

With BlackVPN, you get some excellent features to boost your cybersecurity and provide you access to a wide array of geo-restricted content in Australia. However, some users might want more than that.

These users might be looking for more advanced encryption, a wider range of servers, or some other features not provided by BlackVPN. For them, there are options available.

Do I Recommend BlackVPN in Australia?

No, by no means do I recommend BlackVPN in Australia.

BlackVPN prices are way too high for a VPN that is not even an industry leader. It isn’t the best VPN for streaming purposes considering its server speed is too slow and it doesn’t unblock Netflix in Australia.

In this BlackVPN review in Australia, we found that this VPN has only 31 servers. That’s a small server count when compared with the price they are charging. Its privacy policy is good. It does not keep any kind of logs, which is a good sign that it will keep users’ privacy protected. But its Windows client had 6 Trojans and Riskware. This is critical to your online privacy.

Overall, I didn’t like the performance of this VPN in Australia.
