Top 5 2014 Sitcoms on Hulu this Summer

May 29, 2014 By: Danish Pervez

If you like Sitcoms and love the experience of watching TV shows online, then Hulu is the website for you. Hulu is loaded with some of the best TV shows from around the world. Here are some of the best sitcoms that are available on Hulu this 2014.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

I would recommend The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but I have noticed that Jon Steward has a bit of political comedy, while Jimmy Fallon has a much better version of comedy. Jimmy Fallon will make you smile with his jokes and he won’t even poke fun at anybody in the process.

Jimmy Fallon hosts the show lightly, brings out some of the most trending guests in Hollywood, and makes sure that he never crosses the line. This means that you will enjoy it just as much if you watch it with kids. It’s all good!

If you have had a long day at work and need something to unwind before dozing off, then The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is the perfect sleeping pill for you. The best part is that Jimmy Fallon didn’t have to do hundreds of shows to become famous. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has only aired around 60 episodes to date, and everybody loves it already.

New Girl

Remember the hot chick from Bones? That was Emily Deschanel. Meet her sister, Zooey Deschanel. Zooey plays the quirky character of Jess in ‘New Girl’. Jess gets stuck in all sorts of unreal situations and the best part is that all her friends get just as serious about her problems.

They will fight over the new parking spot in the building, they will try to crash weddings, and they will go on cruise-ship dates that are more than a little weird. Nothing guarantees a laugh like an episode of New Girl.

The show has already been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and five Primetime Emmy Awards. New Girl is currently in its third season and 70 episodes have aired so far. So if you’re not already following New Girl, I recommend it for whenever you are in the mood for some light Sunday afternoon sit-com binging.

Here is a reel of some of the most comic moments of New Girl, but be careful though because it can get a little NSFW (Not Safe For Work) sometimes.

In addition to the ever quirky and cute Zooey Deschanel, the series also stars Jake Johnson (as Jess’s on-again/off-again boy friend and best friend, Nick), Max Greenfield (as the eccentric and confused Schmidt), Lamorne Morris (as everybody’s mutual friend Winston), and Hannah Simone (as Schmidt’s ever-lasting crush, Cece). Lately, Damon Wayans, Jr. has also joined the cast as Coach. The guy who always means well but never really manages to get anything done.

Last Man Standing

If you like Tim Allen, and wish that you could get more of his show from the 90s (Home Improvement), then you will love Last Man Standing. Last Man Standing stars Tim Allen as the father of a small family and the manager of a wilderness supplies store.

Here is an introductory trailer of Last Man Standing for those of you who don’t know about it.

It is a simple little comedy with simple people who run into simple problems. Every episode ends with a moral, and the coming together of family, making Last Man Standing an ideal Sitcom to watch with family. The series stars Tim Allen (as Mike Baxter), a man trying to survive in a woman’s world and Nancy Travis (as Vanessa Baxter), Mike’s geologist working wife.

Together the two of these try to help their three daughters: Amanda Fuller (as Kristin Beth Baxter), the eldest daughter and single mother; Molly Ephraim (as Mandy), the most confident daughter; and Kaitlyn Dever (as Eve Baxter), as their youngest tom boy daughter.

If you loved shows like According to Jim, Married to the Kellys and Everybody Loves Raymond, then you will adore Last Man Standing.

Modern Family

Modern Family is the newest thing in sitcoms. It will take you on a tour of three families, each one trying to be more dysfunctional than the other. None of the families in Modern Family are normal because every single character brings something extraordinary to the screen. The result is chaos, chaos and more chaos.

Modern Family has released through 5 seasons so far so if you haven’t already watched it, you can be sure that there is a lot of fun waiting for you.

Modern Family has a very large cast comprising three families, and the most normal of them all is the Dunphy family. The Dunphy family is made up of Phil Dunphy (played by Ty Burrell), Claire Dunphy (played by Julie Bowen), and their three children: 15 year old Haley (Sarah Hyland), 13 year old Alex (Ariel Winter) and youngest son Luke Dunphy (Nolan Gould).

The Dunphy family keeps trying to juggle their fast lives with their emotional dramas and the desire to stick together as a family unit. Each of the characters has his/her own insecurities and perspectives towards life and the entire family tries to find common ground through which they can make things work. The result is that you will hear the parents say child-like things, and the children say things well beyond their age.

Then we have the Pritchett-Delgado family. Ed O’Neill plays Jay Francis Pritchett, who is married to Gloria Pritchett (played by Sofia Vergara). She is J, (formerly Delgado), is Jay’s second wife and mother of 12 year old Manuel Alberto “Manny” Delgado (played by Rico Rodriguez) from her first marriage and Joe Pritchett from her marriage with Jay.

The twist is the fact that Jay is a senior citizen and a Vietnam War veteran, while Gloria is much younger and quite the bomb shell. In addition, Manny is far more mature than his age and has preferences that would make fine wine feel insecure.

Last up, we have the Tucker-Pritchett family. Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays Mitchell Vincent Pritchett, domestic partner to Cameron Scott Tucker (played by Eric Stonestreet). Together, the two form a homosexual couple that adopts a Vietnamese baby and bring her to the United States. Need I say any more?

South Park

South Park is one of the most PG-18 cartoons ever created. That being said, it is also one of the most awesome cartoons ever invented (Don’t judge me). South Park is a spoke in the wheel of society. Watching South Park is like waking up in the morning with a bucket of cold water instead of an alarm clock. This show is for people looking for a jump start. The cartoon show is loaded with pure obscenity without any strings attached.

Oh, and did I mention that South Park is loaded with obscenities. It is not for the faint of heart. There are no beeps to cover up the obscenities, and no pixels to cover up the graphic obscenities. In fact, it is so obscene that I can’t even put a trailer or a set of clips here for those of you who haven’t seen it before.

I wouldn’t have added South Park to this list under normal circumstances, but then I can’t forget all my college going readers looking to have a good time.
